Chapter 5 The Wizard Kegabi
13/ Brutal trade in human organs
Sero's
mother sat in front of my friend Don Jerry. She is a white immigrant from the
former Yugoslavia. She is 39 years old, but she looks much younger. She didn't
make a scene like I had feared, she was very calm. There's no way you'd feel
the pain she's going through right now. Her son, a 10-year-old boy named Sero,
was killed. He was first hit on the head with a sharp weapon, and immediately
blood spurted from his wound. Next, the killer viciously cut off Se-ro's penis,
his hands, and his ears. The tragedy happened near the mysterious village of
Molej in South Africa.
I made her a cup of coffee. She told us her
name is Dilna and her husband Ivan lives in Sandton, Johannesburg
Worked
as a clerk in a bank. She said that in South Africa, the majority of black
people think that they have turned their heads politically, but not
economically. At present, whites, who account for 10% of the population,
control the economic lifeline of South Africa, and their living standards are
much higher than that of blacks. However, the economic situation of the
majority of blacks has not improved significantly. The number of unemployed
blacks is increasing day by day, and blacks begging along the streets can be
seen everywhere. She said she knew a black man who worked for a white security
company. He earned 1,600 rand (about 7.8 rand or 1 U.S. dollar) a month. His
wife did not work, and he had three children. The family of five depended on
this. A meager income is maintained. He said that in this company, white people
who do the same job as him pay almost twice as much as him. She once asked him
why? He said, "It's not because of my dark skin. I'm still lucky. Many
black people have no jobs and can only eat a piece of bread a day. What kind of
racial equality is this?"
Dilna
took a sip of coffee: "I once went to the Immigration Bureau to extend my
visa, and I met a black officer. During the chat, he told me that he bought a
local car not long ago. I said, The lives of black people have improved. How could
you afford a car in the past? He retorted that it has been more than 6 years
since black people 'overthrew white rule' before he bought a local car with the
lowest price. What is that? You Look at what kind of cars white people drive,
BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, and the worst are Japanese cars. If you look at the
luxury houses they live in, we black people can’t even afford the gates of
their yards in this life.” The official told Di Erna, his family is now renting
a house, and their biggest wish is to buy an apartment.
Dierna
said: "Although white people live a superior life, they are also
dissatisfied with their current situation. The biggest problem facing South
Africa is not the racial issue, but the high crime rate, because it is not
black people who are discriminated against but white people. She explained from
her own experience: From a political point of view, blacks occupy important
positions in the government, army, police and other departments. South Africa
now implements the "one person, one vote" electoral system. This
democratic system means that blacks, who account for nearly 80% of the
population, will always control the political power, while whites, who account
for about 10% of the population, will never be able to "turn over"
politically. The South African government appointed the first black governor of
the South African Reserve Bank (central bank) more than a year ago, replacing a
white one. Since then, white leaders of state-owned enterprises have gradually
been replaced by blacks. White leaders also gave way to black leaders at
national scientific institutions. Dilna looked very depressed. She said that
her husband lost his job in the bank through such a change. Soon after, her
husband died in a car accident.
Mr.
Don Jerry just smoked and didn't interrupt her. Perhaps, like me, he was
thinking about this poor woman in front of him. What exactly did she want to
say to Mr. Tang Jerry?
Dierna
asked Mr. Tang Jerry for a cigarette, and she began to smoke vigorously:
"I am a single woman, and I used to live with my son Sero, living on a
little relief from the government. Now, what happened in front of my eyes
Almost everything is not important to me, no one can bring my son back from the
dead, and no mother in the world wants to lose her child so tragically."
"I
came here just to tell you the truth." Dilna's eyes were full of
melancholy. I took a look at Mr. Don Jerry, who was still just smoking. Do not
answer. Dierna didn't seem to care about this either, she seemed to be talking
to herself: "He sold my son's body parts for only 200 pounds each, not
even that price."
Mr.
Tang Jerry finally spoke: "Mr. Kegabi is a wizard in name, but in fact he
is an extremely cruel trader of human organs. He killed your husband, and now
he killed your son." I was horrified Looking at my friend anxiously, how
is he sure? I shifted my gaze to Dierna's face in front of me again, and she
nodded. She undoubtedly confirmed the judgment of my friend Mr. Don Jerry.
