I
don’t know what year, month or time the owner of Shuiyun Manor, Dun Jiashu,
adopted a seriously injured female black-necked crane. The black-necked crane
was injured by a shotgun bullet and its wings had been broken. She could no
longer fly in the sky.
Dunjiashu
gave this black-necked crane a Western name: Zongzong.
Soon,
news spread about Dunjiashu adopting the injured female black-necked crane
Zongzong. Dun Jiashu's kindness moved the residents, and the local children
called him "Grandpa Crane".
Dunjiashu
loves animals and is proficient in various animal languages. Animals often
gather at Shuiyun Manor.
Is
there any difference between human nature and animal nature? Dunjiashu believes
that human nature is hateful and animal nature is noble. His father was killed
for opposing the lord. Dunjiashu also encountered many sinister things about
human nature in his life. He believes that there are many noble things in
animal nature that are unknown to people. Humans and animals all have one thing
in common: they love what they love and hate what they hate. However, his view
of human nature seems a bit cold. He believes that evil people who do not
recognize their relatives are worse than animals. Of course, what is human
nature and what is animal nature? This is an eternal topic in survival
research.
Dunjiashu
adopted the seriously injured black-necked crane Zongzong, and also rescued the
wild boar Deborah who was injured by an arrow. Both the injured Zongzong and
Deborah told Dunjiashu: "The one who hurt us was the vicious hunter
Stoney. He shot animals everywhere, and in his eyes, all animals were his
prey.”
The
wild boar Deborah asked Dunjiashu: "Why did you save us?"
Dunjiashu
said: Animals all have animal nature, and animal nature, like human nature, is
also divided into good and evil. If both humans and animals could be
kind-hearted, the world would be filled with harmony and friendship.
The
black-necked crane Zongzong seemed to understand. She danced her wings and sang
the song "Light of Love":
Sunlight is the source of light,
We long for the light of nature,
But the sun cannot shine into our
hearts.
Love is the light of the spirit,
We believe in the power of the spirit,
Love can melt the ice in our hearts.
Taking the legendary wise Agu Demba as the protagonist, I started to create the Chinese-English version of "Snow Land Fable" using the traditional fable creation method that combines poetry and prose. Writing fables makes me feel like a child again. Studying snowy culture is my prescription to prevent Alzheimer’s disease.
