Adventures in
Bengal
Agudengba came to Bangladesh while traveling in the Western Regions on his
donkey, Madhu. Bangladesh is located in the northeastern part of the South
Asian subcontinent on the delta formed by the Ganges and Brahmaputra rivers. It
borders India to the east, west and north, Myanmar to the southeast, and the
Bay of Bengal to the south.
85% of Bangladesh is plain, while the southeast and northeast are hilly
areas. Most of the country has an altitude of less than 12 meters. The highest
peak is Kaiokladong Peak, 1229 meters high.
Agudumba visited the tourist attractions of Znani, Himchari, and Teknaf in
the southernmost part of Bangladesh, visited the Ramu Buddhist temple, and
visited the islands near Sonadia such as Moheshkhali, Coral Island, and St.
Maarten Island. This was the most memorable experience in his life.
Agudenba travels to Cox's Bazar, which is the world's largest uninterrupted
narrow 120-square-meter beach. Kuakata is the only beach in Asia where people
can watch the sunrise and sunset at the same time.
Sundarban, another eco-tourism attraction in Agu Demba, has the largest
mangroves in the world and nearly 600 square kilometers of swampland on the
coast of Khulna. It is the natural habitat of sika deer, crocodiles, monkeys,
cheetahs, wild boars, hyenas and many kinds of birds, making it an ideal place
for eco-tourists.
When Agudengba was walking in the mangroves with his donkey, a white tiger
suddenly jumped out. Agudengba was shocked. The donkey Mahu roared at the white
tiger. The white tiger was frightened and took a few steps back. The white
tiger was observing the donkey's next move.
At this time, an old man walked out of the forest and walked directly to
the white tiger. The white tiger seemed to be very affectionate with the old
man, gently wagging his tail to show his goodwill.
The old man said to Agudengba: Don't be afraid, this white tiger is my pet
and my good friend.
The old man told Agudengba: My name is Lavani. I used to be a hunter, but
now I am the guardian of this forest.
Agudengba said to the old man Lavani: "Why are you not afraid of
tigers? Why is this tiger so affectionate to you?"
Lavani said: "This is the hometown of the Bangladesh tiger. The
ancestor of the tiger is the ancient Chinese tiger, which lived in North China
and northwest China more than 2 million years ago. The true tiger species
appeared 100 years ago. More than 10,000 years ago. All existing tigers still
have a common ancestor until about 110,000 years ago, when the ancestors of
modern tigers lived in South China. Continental tigers and Sunda tigers
diverged 70,000 years ago, while Bangladesh The tiger separated from other
continental tigers about 50,000 years ago and is the most basic type of
continental tiger."
The old man Lavani continued: "The Bengal tiger is a carnivorous
mammal of the family Felidae, also known as the Indochinese tiger. It has a
round head, short ears, and a broad forehead. There are several black
horizontal stripes on the forehead, and a series of vertical stripes can be
seen in the middle of the forehead. lines; there are long whiskers on the lips,
and sharp teeth on both sides of the upper and lower jaws; broad chest and thin
waist, thick and short limbs, long tail, strong and powerful. The body hair is
yellow with stripes, the tail has several black rings, and the front chest
There are white hairs on the back of the abdomen, around the eye sockets and on
the inside of the limbs. The distribution of Bangladeshi tigers is centered in
Thailand, and is found in the border areas of Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam,
Peninsular Malaysia and southern Yunnan Province in China. Lives in remote
mountains and mountainous areas In the forest. Most of them live alone in the
depths of the dense forest, hiding day and night.
The Bengal tiger is a powerful predator. It is ideally suited for hunting
large prey, with short, muscular forelimbs and long, sharp retractable claws.
It also has a slender, strong and flexible body, a short and thick neck and
broad and powerful shoulders, which are helpful for catching and subduing other
large prey. The skull is shortened, increasing the force that the powerful jaws
can extend, allowing the tiger to snap tightly at its captured prey.
The Bengal tiger has the most powerful hunting skills among cats. It even
preys on the world's largest white-legged bison, hunts the crocodile, and is
also a killer of sloth bears. There are also many Bengal tigers that hunt Asian
rock pythons, leopards, and female Indians. Incidents of rhino and sub-adult
female elephant. They are one of the fastest animals in the world, reaching
speeds of nearly 80 kilometers per hour.
Bengal tigers often live alone, and only during the breeding season do
males and females live together. It has no fixed nest and often wanders in the
mountains and forests in search of food. Able to swim, but not good at climbing
trees. Mostly active at dusk, lurking and resting during the day.
Old Lavani smiled and said to Agudengba: "Mr. Agudengba, you are
welcome to travel here. Come and sit at my house for a while."
After the old man Lavani finished speaking, he mounted the seemingly
ferocious white tiger.
Agudengba followed behind on his donkey.
Old Lavani sang a Bengali song "Free and Easy" along the way:
I ride a white tiger and feel free and easy,
Observe the sky and understand the sunrise and sunset,
Yin and Yang potential energy will continue to change,
There is nothing eternal in the world.
In life one should understand the laws of nature,
Don't be deliberate, just let everything happen.
When we know how to follow nature,
Then you can let go of your attachments.
The large floor blocks change with movement,
Grass and trees grow and wither with the seasons,
Between all these gains and losses,
It won't cause much trouble.
But why do some people value fame and fortune?
Spend your whole life pursuing it?
There are still some people who can’t let go of their emotions,
Suffering from the pain of love.
That's because of the persistence in the heart,
Angry or troubled between gains and losses,
If we are too focused on gains and losses,
Doomed to endless troubles and pain.
Comply with the seasons and the laws of nature,
If you want anything, you will suffer, but if you don't have desire, you
will be strong.
Pain comes from inner desires,
The heart without desires is the most powerful.
Understand life, see life,
To be a good person, you must cultivate yourself and your body.
Penetrate your heart and live soberly,
Only by perseverance can we move forward cautiously.
Taking the legendary wise Agu Demba as the protagonist, I started to create the Chinese-English version of "Snow Land Fable" using the traditional fable creation method that combines poetry and prose. Writing fables makes me feel like a child again. Studying snowy culture is my prescription to prevent Alzheimer’s disease.
