Sumana the Banshee
Agudumba continued to tell the donkey the legendary story
about the abdication of Prince Rama of the Saro Kingdom.
The King of Saro Kingdom, Shicha King, inherited the
blood of Aryans and was very kind-hearted. His eldest son Rama was also a
descendant of Aryans, so he dared to endure hardship and hard work and did not
pursue fame and fortune.
Agudengba said: Rama gave way to Bharata, the son of
Jikayi, the third concubine of the Ten Chariot Kings. Bharata was unwilling to
take away his brother's throne, but Rama persuaded his younger brother to be
filial and obey his father's orders, which would benefit the country. People,
don’t refuse.
Rama took his wife Sita and his younger brother Lakshman
into exile, walking from place to place in the forest, living a hard and
miserable life. After more than thirteen years of hard work, they can go back
after reaching fourteen years in a few months. Just then, they ran into trouble
again.
Subhana, the sister of the ten-headed demon king Ravana,
went to play in the forest where Rama lived. She saw the handsome and beautiful
Prince Rama and fell in love with him immediately.
Subana is an extremely ugly witch with bird's claws and
her voice sounds like a crow. She transformed into a beautiful woman and walked
coquettishly towards Rama, wooing him and asking him to marry her. Rama loved
his wife very much and never thought of marrying another woman, even if she was
more beautiful than a deity, so he politely rejected her. Subhana was so angry
that she immediately returned to her original form and threatened Rama that if
he did not marry her, she would kill Sita.
Rama saw that it was the demon Subana, and knew that he
was in trouble. Subana's brother, the ten-headed demon king, was extremely
cruel and barbaric. He had ten heads and twenty arms. He could use various weapons
and had great magical powers. , annoyed his sister, he will take revenge. So he
persuaded Subana to find another person.
Just then, Rama's brother Lakshmana came over. When
Subhana saw that Lakshman was as handsome as Rama, she fell in love with him again
and proposed to Lakshman. When Lakshman heard this, he became angry. He pulled
out a knife and pointed it at Subana and said, "Who wants an ugly woman
like you? Go back!"
Both Rama brothers rejected her love. Subhana was so
angry that she cursed and wanted to swallow them with her mouth wide open.
Lashman jumped up to catch her and cut off her nose and ears.
Subana covered her bloody face and went to complain to
her third brother Gara. Her third brother was also a demon king, and he became
furious when he saw his sister's miserable state. Immediately fourteen thousand
demons were sent to kill Rama brothers. But all these fourteen thousand demons
were shot dead by Rama brothers.
So Jala and Subhana led more demons to swarm in to avenge
Brother Rama.
Rama and Lakshman knew that today's battle needed to be
dealt with carefully, so they hid Sita. Then the two brothers climbed up the
mountain and pulled up the divine bow and arrows. Divine arrows flew like rain
at Jialuo's demon soldiers. Wherever the demons could stop them, most of them
were shot to death. The rest fled away, no matter how Jialuo and Subana yelled
and cursed, it had no effect.
Jala and Subhana were so angry that they screamed and
each brandished their weapons to kill Rama and Lakshman. Rama fights against
Kala, Lakshman fights against Subhana, and the four of them fight in the
forest. Jara Na was Rama's opponent, and he was killed in just a few blows.
When Subana saw her third brother being killed, she had
no intention of fighting anymore. She stopped fighting and flew into the sky,
crying all the way to Lanka, where her eldest brother Lavana lived.
After listening to Suba's cry, Ravana was so angry that
his third brother was killed and his sister was injured. He immediately ordered
his troops to take revenge on Rama brothers. His minister Maurica was a cunning
and resourceful man, so he advised him: "Brother Rama is so brave that he
is the enemy of the whole world. We can only defeat him wisely, not
forcefully." So he spoke into Ravana's ear. A plan.
Lavana beamed with joy, nodded repeatedly and said,
"Okay, just do as you said."
On this day, Rama, Lakshman and Sita were sitting in
front of the house chatting. Suddenly, a beautiful sika deer appeared not far
in front of their bamboo house. This deer is so beautiful, its eyes are like
gems, its two multi-pronged golden horns are shaking, and the patterns on its
body are sparkling.
Sita exclaimed happily: "What a beautiful deer! It
would be great to catch it and raise it."
Rama also thought the deer was beautiful. Seeing that his
wife wanted it so much, he picked up a rope and said, "Okay, I'll catch it
and give it to you."
Roshman felt doubtful and said, "Have you ever seen
such a beautiful deer? Maybe it's the devil in disguise?"
Rama said: "How can such a thing happen? You take
care of Sita here, and I will catch the deer." After Rama finished
speaking, he chased the deer.
As expected, the deer was a conjuration of Ravana's
minister Maulija, with the intention of luring Rama into being deceived. As
soon as he saw Rama chasing after him, the sika deer ran towards the forest.
Now the deer ran into the forest and disappeared, and now it appeared in front
of Rama; now it was farther away from Rama, and now it was closer to him.
Luring Rama further and further away from home.
Rama was never willing to shoot a deer with an arrow, he
wanted to catch it alive. But the deer was very agile, and Rama tried his best
to catch it, but Rama was about to catch it, but it escaped again. He was a
little tired from running, so he leaned against a tree to take a rest. The sika
deer appeared on his left again. Rama couldn't care less about catching anyone
alive, so he shot an arrow at the deer. He only heard a scream, and the sika
deer fell to the ground and resumed its original form as the demon Molija.
Before he died, Molizza imitated Rama's voice and shouted
loudly: "Lashman, come and save me! Come and save me!"
Rama was startled and knew that he had been fooled, so he
went up and killed the demon with a sword, and then ran towards home.
Molizza's voice passed through the sky and reached the
ears of Sita and Lakshman. Sita was very panicked. She said to Lakshman:
"This is Rama's cry for help. He must be in trouble. Run and help
him!"
Roshman was also very anxious, but he was also a little
doubtful. What a brave man his brother was. How could he cry out for help?
Could it be the devil again? Besides, it was my duty to protect Sita, so he
stood still.
Sita was angry: "It seems that your love for your
brother is fake. You saw him in danger but you refused to save him."
Roshman said in embarrassment: "What will you do if
I leave? My brother has given me the responsibility of protecting you?"
Sita said: "Don't worry about me. If you really love
your brother and me, go and save your brother!"
It seemed that if he didn't go, his sister-in-law would
become suspicious, so Lakshman immediately ran in the direction of Rama.
Now Sita was left alone. She was a little scared, and she
was thinking about Rama. She was about to go back into the house, when a monk
came to her out of nowhere with a begging bowl. Just as Sita was about to ask a
question, the monk threw away his begging bowl and instantly transformed into a
tall demon with ten heads and twenty arms. It turned out that the monk was the
phantom of the ten-headed demon king Ravana, who came to capture Sita after
Lakshman was deceived.
Sita was so horrified that she could not speak. Ravana
picked her up by the waist and flew into the air. Sita struggled desperately,
crying and cursing. She grabbed her crown and dropped it to the ground, so that
Rama could know the direction in which she was taken.
Ravana took Sita to Lanka Island and forced Sita to marry
him. Sita refused to follow even to death. Subhana's eyes turned red when she saw
Sita, and she wanted to bite her to death. But Ravana stopped her. He locked up
Sita and sent people to strictly guard her. He also sent people to persuade
Sita to obey him, but Sita sternly refused.
When Rama saw Lakshman approaching him, he became anxious
and asked, "Why did you abandon Sita and run out without permission?"
Roshman said, "Aren't you calling for help? My
sister-in-law was worried and forced me to look for you."
Rama stamped his feet and said, "I'm calling for
help. It's the demon Molizza imitating my voice. We've been fooled! Go home
now. How's it going?"
By the time they arrived home, Sita had disappeared. They
were so anxious that they shouted at the top of their lungs and looked
everywhere for her, but there was no sign of her.
Suddenly, Rama discovered a shiny object at the edge of
the forest. He walked over and saw that it was the crown that his wife often
wore. He knew something had happened to Sita, and she must have been kidnapped
by a group of ten-headed demon kings. I felt a pain in my heart and almost
fainted. Laishman quickly supported his brother and said, "Don't be too
anxious. Let's go to Lanka Island quickly and try to rescue my
sister-in-law."
Agudengba said to the donkey Mahu: Emperor Zetian also
learned about this when he was inspecting the Salo Kingdom. Di Zetian is the
protector, but he still did not help. He wanted to continue to examine how Rama
would deal with difficulties.
Agudumba sang a popular Aryan song, "Rama Speaks to
Me":
Life is a pot of wine, the intensity of
which is not up to you.
It all depends on how you taste it;
A pot of tea among the flowers, I can't
help but float up and down.
It depends on how you look at it.
Some people say: In this life of a
person,
Our destiny is determined at birth,
As we age, our fate is determined.
No one is above everything,
No one can turn things around,
We are all bound by destiny to survive.
What kind of life do you have?
It depends on what kind of background
you have.
Rama said: In this life of a person,
We are born with challenges,
Victory was determined by our
indomitability.
No one is afraid of evil spirits,
No one will lose their confidence,
We all survive by overcoming
difficulties,
Have the power to get out of trouble,
It depends on what kind of determination
you have.
Taking the legendary wise Agu Demba as the protagonist, I started to create the Chinese-English version of "Snow Land Fable" using the traditional fable creation method that combines poetry and prose. Writing fables makes me feel like a child again. Studying snowy culture is my prescription to prevent Alzheimer’s disease.
