Durga Puja is the most lively and grand religious celebration of the year for Hindus in the Republic of Bangladesh and the Indian state of West Bengal. The five-day Durga Puja is a national holiday in Bangladesh.

The Prime Minister of Bangladesh must attend Hindu celebrations every year to show respect for all religious beliefs. Married Hindu women will have cinnabar dotted on their foreheads during Hindu celebrations.

Why does God Durga have such an important status? Because behind the grand worship, it symbolizes the divine power of Durga. Legend has it that the gods in the sky realized that they had to fight Mahishashur, a demon that was difficult to defeat, so they decided to unite and Goddess Durga was born. Durga is the most important of all Hindu goddesses. She is tall and has ten arms, each of which holds a weapon capable of destroying evil forces. Each of her arms retains the ultimate weapon of the gods. This goddess, who was born by combining the advantages of all male gods, finally succeeded in destroying the devil. Goddess Durga takes nine different incarnations, each form telling the story of a woman's power at different times and ages.

Durga Puja is the worship of the divine power embodied by the goddess Durga, symbolizing the war between good and evil, with the dark forces finally succumbing to the divine.

In the annual Hindu celebration, different sacrificial ceremonies are held every day. During this period, believers celebrate Durga's return to the world by chanting hymns, lighting candles, dancing, beating drums and other forms. On the fifth day, the last day called Bijoya Dashami, people will recite mantras, offer flowers, and immerse idols in rivers across the country to bid farewell to the goddess and her children who are about to return to the Himalayas, pray for their blessings, and predict Good luck returning next year.
