Goddess descends to earth
Old Lavani traveled all over
the country, from east to west, and visited many places. He also liked listening
to and telling stories. After the old man Lavani met Agudengba by chance, he
boasted about the local love legends with his love for Bangladesh.
Old Lavani told Agudengba a
story about a goddess descending to earth:
Once upon a time, among the
dancing girls in the heaven, there was an extremely outstanding goddess named
Apsaras. Once, Apsarath danced in front of the gods. God Indra was very
satisfied with it and specially assigned her to serve as a messenger in
Vishalaburi, a prosperous capital city. This city is truly incredibly
beautiful.
Since the goddess lived in this
sacred city, she has not forgotten to worship God Indra every day to show her
respect for him. However, one day she accidentally forgot to chant sutras and
worship. God Indra cursed her and said: "You have neglected to pray to me.
From now on, you will lose your physical life and stay in this city. You There
will be two women waiting beside the remains, and a man will appear in front of
these two children and learn the whole story of how your body lost its life.
You can remove your human form early that morning and restore yourself to a
goddess. identity. Until then, you will live on earth as the king's
daughter."
After hearing these words said
by God Indra, the goddess smiled slightly, which relieved God Indra's anger a
lot.
The goddess Apsaras said:
"When I leave this city of gods and go to the human world, please do not
let anyone be the administrator of this city."
Then, God Indra said:
"Before you become the administrator of the divine city of Vishalaburi
again, I will make the residents of this city unconscious."
Old Lavani said:
In this way, Apsarath was born
into the world and became the daughter of the king due to the curse of the god
Indra who held the vajra in his hand.
But since Apsara was born, she
has never been happy. Although she is already in her hair, she refuses marriage
proposals from others. She insisted on her condition and said, "I will
accept as my husband only the man who can tell the story of Vishalaburi in front
of me."
Although there was an endless
stream of kings or princes coming to propose marriage, no one among them knew
the real situation in Vishalaburi City, so they all had to return disappointed.
Old Lavani continued:
It is said that there was a man
named Aka who was quite cunning. He wanted to know the truth about that city
from the rumors, so he traveled around and finally came to a place called
Collabura. Aka went to pay homage to the great and noble Lakshumi, the goddess
of happiness, happily said to him: "Tell me what you wish for!"
Akka quickly asked: "What
kind of place is Vishalaburi? In which corner of the world is this city? I hope
to see this city with my own eyes. Please grant me this grace!"
After hearing this, the noble
goddess gave a pair of shoes to Akka in order to let him see Vishalaburi and
said: "Put on these shoes so that you can go where you want to go."
.”
Akka put on his shoes and
immediately came to Vishalaburi as he wished. As he walked, he saw the city was
so beautiful, as if he were standing on the waves of the river, which filled
his heart with joy.
Aka saw two elephants on both
sides of the city gate. They looked terrible. When he got closer, he saw that
both elephants were unconscious.
Akka then entered the city. I
saw that all the creatures in the city had lost their lives. If I continued to
move forward, I saw the breathtaking and magnificent palace right in front of
me. The guards in front of the palace gate were also unconscious. When he
entered the palace, he immediately saw a woman lying lifeless, with two living
women beside her. He learned the whole incident from the mouths of these two
women, without missing a single bit. Then Aka borrowed the power of the shoes
and returned to the world in the blink of an eye.
Akka hurried to the king's
daughter Apsaras, and he said to her:
"I know what happened in
Vishalaburi and there is nothing missing about it."
"Have you seen
Vishalaburi? Or not at all?"
After being asked thus, Akka
answered clearly: "I have seen it with my own eyes."
"In this case, what is
there at the gate of the city? Let's talk about something particularly
eye-catching. If this is correct, the rest will be true."
Aka replied: "There are
two elephants on both sides of the city gate."
After hearing what Aka said,
she said: "What this man said is true." In order to show respect to
him. Then she said: "Don't go into details now. I'll tell you when I ask
you to talk." Then she asked him to come into the house. She wanted to
share many happy times with Aka with her in heaven.
However, this foolish Aka was
only immersed in the joy of discovering the mystery, and pestered her every
day, saying: "Let me tell you about Vishalaburi."
Apsaras only answered him and
stopped him by saying, "If I want to find it, we can discuss it later."
Perhaps it was retribution for
the many bad things this person had done in the past. Aka became unresponsive.
Although he prayed for happiness in his heart, he kept shouting to talk about
it.
So Apsarath finally learned
from Akka what happened in the city of Vishalaburi, as well as the strange
ending as mentioned above.
When Apsaras knew everything,
her fragrance disappeared in an instant, but Vishalaburi's soul revived. All
changes fulfilled the curse of Lord Indra.
At this time, Aka regretted and
said: "Although I was stopped repeatedly when I mentioned that matter, it
was because of the retribution for the bad things I had done in the past that I
refused to be stopped. Luck has already passed away from me, even so. , I left
happy memories, isn’t it also good?”
When the old man Lavani talked
about this, he sang to Agudengba a folk song "What is Happiness" that
Aka loved to sing at that time:
The hardest thing to grasp in life is opportunity
The hardest thing to get in life is a close friend
When you are alive, you should not compare how much money
you have and how little money you have.
The important thing is to see whether you are in a good
mood or not.
Rich people may not always have a smile on their face.
You will definitely not know his troubles;
People who have no money may not have a bad life.
My little happiness can only be understood in my heart.
What can I do if I wear gold and silver?
So what if it’s ordinary?
As long as you know how to be satisfied,
There is nothing missing.
What can you do with fine clothes and fine food?
So what about the simple meals?
As long as you are happy with yourself,
Nothing will be missing.
What is money?
You worked so hard to save so much money,
In the end, the money is still there but the person is
gone.
What is life?
Life doesn’t have to be rich and wealthy;
But learn to live a life of joy.
What is happiness?
Happiness does not have to be compared with others,
Rather, you need to experience it carefully and slowly.
What is happiness?
Happiness does not have to be given by others.
But grasp what truly comes from the heart.
You are a god in heaven,
It may not be everything you want every day.
You are a descendant of the king,
Nor may one be wealthy from generation to generation.
I am a mortal,
I decide my happiness.
Taking the legendary wise Agu Demba as the protagonist, I started to create the Chinese-English version of "Snow Land Fable" using the traditional fable creation method that combines poetry and prose. Writing fables makes me feel like a child again. Studying snowy culture is my prescription to prevent Alzheimer’s disease.
