The monkey god seeks Sita
It was a spring long, long ago. Beautiful
white clouds floated slowly in the blue sky, and the breeze carried the
fragrance of flowers from the prairie. Agudengba told the mythical story of the
birth of the monkey Hanuman to the donkey, and also told the story of the
monkey Hanuman coming out of the mountains and crossing the sea. Hanuman
accepted the monkey king Sugriva's offer to lead the monkey army on the West
Road. , headed straight to the western mountains on a mission to find Rama’s
wife Sita. Sita was abducted by the ten-headed demon king Ravana. After
inquiring, we found out that Sita might be imprisoned by the demon king Ravana
in Lanka Island.
The monkey god Hanuman stood on the top of
the mountain of Mahandra, and his body became extremely tall. He took a full
breath, stretched out with all his strength, and his huge body rose into the
air. Jump across the sea to Lanka Island.
The monkey god Hanuman stands on the
clouds, looking down. Ho! Lanka Island is so beautiful!
The island has tall and tall peaks,
beautiful flowing water, and green trees everywhere. There are many precious
trees in the forest, such as Lintuo tree, Jitaka tree, Nibo tree, Saha Dogadha
tree and so on. They are all rare and precious trees found in the sky. The
ponds on the island are covered with flowers, which are fragrant and fragrant,
like strings of beautiful garlands, with pearls shining in the center of the
garlands.
Lanka City is located on the top of the
highest mountain on the island.
Outside the city is a very wide and deep
moat, filled with water, with sunflowers and blue lotus growing inside, and a
flower scarf surrounding the city wall. The city wall is high and thick, and
the city is heavily guarded.
The city of Lanka was built by the god of
architecture. The palace is tall, majestic and extremely luxurious.
In the city of Lanka, there are many
beautiful white palaces, row upon row and well-proportioned. The road is
straight and extends in all directions. The roofs of palaces and high-rise
buildings are decorated with gold, silver, and crystals, which complement each
other with the tall and mighty golden city gates. Under the sun, the whole city
is shining with golden light.
After seeing the island and the city of
Lanka, Hanuman had an idea in his mind. He lightly jumped down outside the city
of Lanka and hid in the woods. He decided to go into the city when it got dark.
He first found out whether Sita was dead or alive, and then acted with camera.
The sun was setting, and darkness quickly
enveloped the land. The monkey stretched out his hand, but could not see his
fingers clearly, and then jumped out of the bush. The monkey god Hanuman can
transform seventy-three times, so he transformed into a wild cat and slipped
into Lanka City.
When the lights are on in Lanka City, it
has a different kind of crystal-clear beauty compared to the daytime. Hanuman
had no intention of admiring the street-like night view and gorgeous buildings
in the city, and went straight to the harem of the ten-headed demon. He
searched among thousands of beauties, but did not find Sita. How to do it?
Hanuman had an idea and thought:
"I'm afraid I won't be able to find
Sita among the beauties in the harem. If Sita has already become the concubine
of the Ten-Headed Demon, there is no point in looking for her; if she doesn't
succumb, she must be locked up somewhere else."
The monkey god regretted why he had not
thought of this and wasted so much time.
He entered the city at night and flew to
the palace of Ravana, the ten-headed demon king. At this time, a bright moon
hung high in the blue sky, the palace was brightly lit, and the maids came and
went. The monkey Hanuman still did not know where he was imprisoned. Where?
The monkey god Hanuman left the harem and
went straight to the woods in the backyard. The monkey god Hanuman then
transformed into an owl. Finally, at dawn, Hanuman saw the haggard and sad Sita
in a worry-free forest in the backyard of the palace.
Sita was surrounded by a group of
ugly-looking Rakshasa girls and stood under a big tree. Her head and body were
covered with mud, her hair was disheveled, she looked haggard, and her clothes
were in tatters.
The monkey god Hanuman then transformed
into a little beetle and hid on the branches.
Hanuman saw Sita closing her eyes tightly,
completely ignoring the intimidation and persuasion of the Rakshasa girl, and
she was crying silently. Many maids gathered around her and seemed to be trying
to persuade her to eat, but she threw all the food on the floor.
After a while, Hanuman saw Ravana, the
ten-headed demon king, coming there.
Hanuman heard Ravana’s sweet words with his
own ears:
I'm going to use this brain of mine now,
Come and touch your lovely feet.
I will be your loyal slave,
I beg you to show me favor as soon as
possible.
I've been tortured by love,
May my words not be in vain.
Sita said to Ravana sternly: "You have
offended Rama, which means the destruction of the Rakshasa clan."
Ravana said to Sita: "I will not force
you to be my wife. I kidnapped you because brother Rama humiliated my sister and
killed my brother."
Ravana left angrily without finding
anything.
Perhaps, Ravana's words stimulated Sita,
and Sita prepared to hang herself under a tree.
Seeing this situation, Hanuman was secretly
happy, knowing that Sita did not surrender to the ten-headed demon, and he
could not help but admire Sita deeply.
Hanuman transformed into a beautiful
butterfly and flew to Sita's ears, telling her that he was sent by King Rama to
save her.
Sita raised her eyes filled with tears and
looked at the beautiful butterfly. The butterfly was like a mysterious
messenger falling from the sky. Sita was surprised and couldn't believe that
this butterfly was actually sent by Rama to save her.
The wise Hanuman understood that Sita
suspected that he was an accomplice of the ten-headed demon, and at the same
time tried to dissuade Sita from committing suicide. The monkey god Hanuman
restored his original shape. He took out the gemstone ring given to him by Rama
to prove his identity.
Hanuman told Sita how he came here. Sita saw
Rama's ring, she held it with both hands, and her tears continued to flow down.
This was the first time she had received information from her husband in many
days after being robbed, and she felt really sad and happy at the same time.
Sita finally believed that Hanuman was sent by her husband to save her.
Hanuman comforted Sita that Rama would come
to rescue her in the near future.
The monkey god Hanuman then said to Sita:
Rama is looking for her everywhere and asked her to give him a token to take
back so that Rama can come and rescue her quickly. Sita cut off a handful of
black hair from her head and gave it to Hanuman.
The monkey god Hanuman settled Sita and
prepared to return to Rama. Hanuman thought happily that he would lead Rama's
army to the Lanka Island again, fight against the ten-headed demons, rescue
Sita, wipe out the monsters, and perform great feats again.
When Agudengba told the donkey this, he
happily sang a "Song of Good and Evil":
Doing
good deeds is like grass in the spring garden
It is
increasing day by day but not growing
Doing
evil is like a whetstone
Every
day the damage is lost but never disappears
It's
possible to do evil but don't do it
Putting
down the butcher knife is kindness
It
is possible to be kind but not good enough
It is
evil to do nothing to save someone.
Losing
conscience and committing evil deeds
Beware
of ghosts and gods
Do
good deeds at the expense of oneself and altruistically
Don’t
be afraid of others laughing around you
Accumulating
virtue that no one knows
This
means that yin virtue is rewarded with blessings
Doing
evil that no one knows about
This
means that evil deeds must be repaid
Greed
is the devil
Helping
others is a hero
Good
and evil will be rewarded in the end
Just
come early or come late
Taking the legendary wise Agu Demba as the protagonist, I started to create the Chinese-English version of "Snow Land Fable" using the traditional fable creation method that combines poetry and prose. Writing fables makes me feel like a child again. Studying snowy culture is my prescription to prevent Alzheimer’s disease.
