Sita sets herself on fire
Agudemba said to the donkey
Mahu: "Ramayana" is a mythological epic that was probably written
between 400 BC and 200 AD. It and another epic masterpiece
"Mahabharata" And known as the "soul of India" and the
highest moral code of Indians.
So what exactly is the story of
Ramayana?
"Rama" is the name of
a prince, and "Yana" means "biography", so when translated,
it can also be called "The Adventures of Prince Rama".
Agudengba said to the donkey
Mahu: I have already told you: Rama’s father is the king of ten chariots in
North India. He married three wives and gave birth to four sons. Rama is the
eldest and should have inherited the throne. , but his little mother was
obviously more favored. She acted coquettishly and made the king's husband
agree to her, exile Rama for fourteen years, and let his youngest son inherit
the throne. This kind of palace fighting drama is not unfamiliar to the
Chinese.
However, Rama, as India's moral
benchmark, did not stir up nine sons to seize the throne. Instead, he put
filial piety first, packed up his baggage and left without saying a word. And
his wife, Princess Sita, who is beautiful and kind-hearted and has always been
regarded as a role model for Indian women, naturally shares the joys and
sorrows with him, and her husband sings and her wife follows him.
Agudemba continued: At first,
the two of them lived a poor life in the forest, wearing bark and eating wild
fruits, and they were quite content. But soon, the demon king on the southern
island of Lanka coveted Sita's beauty, sent the tiger away from the mountain,
took away Rama, and robbed Sita. In order to regain his wife, Rama united with
the monkey king's army, and with the help of the monkey Hanuman, he fought for
many years and finally killed the demon king and rescued Sita.
Rama destroyed the ten demon
kings and the entire demon army collapsed. Rama's banishment period also came,
and he and Lakshman left the forest and headed towards the royal city. Rama's
younger brother Bharat led all the ministers to greet the prince outside the
city early.
At this time, Su Keli, the king
of the Monkey Kingdom, also returned to Lishemuga Mountain. Before leaving, the
king of the monkey kingdom ordered the monkey god Hanuman to set a fire and
burn down the demon palace of the ten kings.
Before the monkey god Hanuman
burned down the palace of the ten-headed demons, he first came to the Ashoka
forest. He reported to Sita the news of Rama's victory in destroying the
ten-headed demons. Sita sincerely thanked Hanuman for everything he had done.
After the monkey god Hanuman
burned the palace of the ten kings and demons, he personally escorted Sita to
Rama's camp outside Lanka. Prepare to go with the army to see Rama.
Rama and the others boarded the
huge cloud chariot of Kubera, the God of Wealth, and returned to Yotta City.
During the fourteen years of
Rama's exile, Bharata placed Rama's clogs on the king's throne and lived in the
Pure Forest outside the city, indicating that he was only ruling on behalf of
his brother. Now he happily gave the power of the state to Rama.
Under the rule of Rama, the
whole country in Kosala enjoyed harmony and beauty, and people had ample food
and clothing.
A hero and a beauty, the story
would have ended here, which would have been great. But Ramayana does not.
But it was a chance. Rama heard
people doubting Sita's chastity and innocence: After Rama's wife Sita was
kidnapped by Ravana, she has been living in the home of Ravana, the king of ten
heads, for so long that it is difficult to protect Sita's own innocence. This
is A great disgrace to Rama's family and country. Rama was in great pain and
conflict.
Rama suddenly changed his face,
cursed, and said to his wife Sita:
You were turned upside down in the devil's arms,
The evil eyes of the devil look upon you;
I am born into a wealthy family.
How can I want you again?
Finally, for the sake of his
family and his own honor, Rama decided to let his brother Lakshmana abandon his
wife Sita to the pure forest on the bank of the Ganges, leaving the pregnant
Sita to fend for herself.
When Agudumba said this, he
took a breath: Rama actually refused to accept Sita. He believed that he was
defending the honor of the family by defeating the ten-headed king Ravana. How
did this Indian hero collapse and turn into a scumbag in such an instant?
However, Sita herself in the
story was not angry. Tears welled up in her eyes, her whole body was shaking, and
she whispered to her husband:
The devil once touched my body,
I was in a coma;
Destiny is responsible for this,
Everything is not my intention.
Now you abandon me in public,
I just jumped into the fire and never looked back.
Everyone was shocked when they
heard Sita's words. Even Rama's brother came over to persuade him: "Don't
you know who my sister-in-law is?" I've shared the joys and sorrows with
you for so many years, and you just worked so hard to rescue someone? How could
she be allowed to commit suicide?
But Rama's face was as dark as
water and he was unmoved. In order to protect the dignity of his family and
himself, he gave up his selfish desires and watched his wife commit suicide in
the fire!
Agudemba said to Donkey Mahu:
This is the origin of the custom of "widow burning" in India, and it
is also the cultural basis for modern Indian officials to confidently say that
raped women should commit suicide.
Agudumba sang a popular song
"Tears of Sita":
Rama's fourteen years of exile
The husband sings and the wife goes through the joys and
sorrows
The devil covets Sitomi
Stealing someone's wife to show off their dominance
Rama vs Lanka
Kill the devil and rescue his wife
Leave the forest and return to the royal city
Regaining power in Kosala
The whole country has plenty of food and clothing
Invincible hero plus beauty
The story could have ended
Unexpectedly, Rama believed in the slander
After suspecting that his wife was robbed
There is no guarantee that Sita will remain innocent
Suddenly changed his face and started swearing
Abandoning his wife by the Ganges
A hero turns into a scumbag in a blink of an eye
Tears welled up in Sita's eyes
Jump into the fire and don't look back
Throwing oneself on fire to show innocence
Privet Sita is admirable
Rama was ruthlessly condemned
The story is not over yet
Just looking forward to the next time
Taking the legendary wise Agu Demba as the protagonist, I started to create the Chinese-English version of "Snow Land Fable" using the traditional fable creation method that combines poetry and prose. Writing fables makes me feel like a child again. Studying snowy culture is my prescription to prevent Alzheimer’s disease.
