Antler
Immortal
Agudemba
and his donkey told the mythical story about the Ten Chariot Kings in India:
There
are two great monks whom the Ten Chariot Kings rely on the most - Posika and
Vamadev. These two are outstanding Brahmins. They are proficient in all the
biblical treasures handed down from generation to generation. They are
firm-willed, pure and loyal, and their virtues are unparalleled and glorious.
The
King of Ten Chariots is like the sun guarded by stars. He can rule the world
with ease. How happy he is. However, there is one thing that tortures him all
the time and makes him suffer. The great King of Ten Chariots was depressed and
depressed all day long because he had no heirs.
He
kept thinking: Without heirs, who will carry on the family line and let the
branches of the Sugar Cane Royal Family flourish; without heirs, who will
inherit my glorious throne and protect my kind and pure people; without heirs,
who will protect my vast land. The happiness of the land and the sacred city of
Ayodha, to protect the four major castes and the accumulated wealth of the
people. God, who can send me a son to pour joyful juice into the melancholy
heart of a middle-aged king.
After
much thought, the wise and wise king finally came up with a reliable way to
seek a son - horse sacrifice.
He
sent his charioteer Sumantra to invite all the Brahmans in charge of sacrifices
and the imperial teacher Puluxita, and told them his thoughts.
The
leader of the ministers, Sumandra, a loyal and knowledgeable charioteer, said
to the King of Ten Chariots: "There is an ancient legend passed down
orally among the monks. The son of Lord Brahma, the great god who created the
universe, was once said to Kumarajiva in It was predicted in front of all the
immortals: The humble King of Ten Chariots will have a son."
The
King of Ten Chariots was extremely surprised and said: "Sumatra, the
extremely intelligent and self-restrained person, is this true?"
"Yes,
Your Majesty." Sumandra said, "The son of the great god Brahma also
predicted that you will get four powerful and world-famous sons. They will all
be obtained from horse sacrifices. This horse sacrifice must be made of noble
dignity. The mighty and powerful Deer Antler Immortal will preside over it.”
The
King of Ten Chariots was overjoyed that his idea was consistent with the
prediction of Kumara of the Great Immortal Palace. He began to make up his mind
to hold a horse festival, and also decided to invite the strong Deer Antler
Sage who was dedicated to spiritual practice.
Who
is Antler Rishi? He is the son of Vibindakar, a famous monk.
The
birth of the Deer Antler Immortal was extraordinary. One day, Vibindakar was
bathing in the river and happened to see a beautiful fairy Urivashi on the
other side. The fairy's handsome face is half-hidden in a gauze scarf, and her
long skirt flutters like willows in the wind. The hermit fell in love at first
sight and spread his semen into the river. Afterwards, a doe came to the river
to drink water and drank the river water containing the hermit's semen. Soon
the doe became pregnant and soon gave birth to a child with antlers on its
forehead. The doe abandoned the child in front of Vibindakar's house. In this
way, Vibindakar adopted the child and named him Antler.
The
Deer Antler Immortal followed his father and lived an ascetic life since he was
a child. He never left Jingxiu Forest and had no idea what the outside was
like. He had never seen anyone except his father. You know, no one dares to
offend Vibindakar, because Vibindakar has a bad temper, has practiced the
strictest asceticism for a long time, and has huge magic power. A man lives in
seclusion in the Jingxiu Forest deep in the mountains.
At
that time, the king of Maozu State was spending all his time drinking and
drinking, ignoring government affairs, and even forgot about offering
sacrifices to the gods. The priest advised him to worship the gods, but the
king turned a deaf ear to these words. From the common people down to the
princes, ministers and Brahmins, they were extremely dissatisfied with him.
Emperor
Indra was furious at the king's absurd behavior and decided to punish the
country he governed. He did not give the country a drop of rain for a whole
year.
A
severe drought occurred in Maozu Country. Not a drop of water fell from the sky
for a whole year. The land dried up, the crops failed, and many people starved
to death. The whole country is in panic. Everyone rushed to the palace and
asked the king to find a way to save the country.
The
king had no choice but to summon the priests into the palace and ask them for
advice. A priest said that only by asking the young hermit Deer Antler Immortal
to bring rain to the earth again.
But
the Deer Antler Immortal followed his father and lived an ascetic life since
childhood. The place where they practice is inaccessible, and the deer horns
have never traveled far, so they have no idea about the outside world.
But
how can we make the Antler Immortal come out of the mountain? This really made
the king and ministers think a lot. So the Brahmin priest came up with the idea
that since the deer-antlered sage was very young and had never set foot in the
world, it would be best to send a young and beautiful girl to lure him out of
the mountain.
Therefore,
the king called for the most beautiful and skilled geishas in the city and
asked them to put the interests of the country first and voluntarily assume
this important task related to the security of the country. However, no one
dared to accept this task because they were worried about the hermit's curse.
When
people were in trouble, a girl stood up and said she was willing to go. The
king took a closer look and saw that it was his adopted daughter Shanta. Shanta
is not only beautiful, but also smart and intelligent. When she heard that the
country was facing the threat of drought, she stepped forward and volunteered
to take on the task of luring the Antler Immortal out of the mountain.
Princess
Shanta built an exquisite wooden raft, decorated it with flowers and herbs, and
carried many sweet fruits and wine. The raft sailed down the river and sailed
straight to the Jingxiu Mountain Forest where the Deer Antler Immortal lived.
Princess
Shanta arrived near Jingxiu Forest where Deer Antler Immortal and his
companions lived, and Princess Shanta landed ashore. One day, she saw that
Vibindakar was going out. Lujiao was resting alone in the hut, and she appeared
in front of Lujiao.
The
Deer Antler Immortal was extremely surprised when he saw Princess Shanta. He
asked: "Distinguished guest, who are you? Why are your monk clothes so
beautiful? You are so beautiful. Please sit down and rest. There is delicious
food in the forest here." The fruits and water are brought from the
cleanest mountain springs, and the mat you are sitting on is woven with sacred
grass. Please tell me, how do you practice?"
Princess
Shanta told the Deer Antler Immortal that she lived nearby, and then she became
a guest and fed the Deer Antler Immortal the exquisite fruits and wine she
brought. This was something the Antler Immortal had never come across before,
and he couldn't help but feel ecstatic. The princess and the deer-antlered
fairy played on the grass for a while, and then they quietly left after hugging
the deer-antlered fairy.
After
Princess Shanta left, the Antler Immortal seemed to have lost something. He was
immersed in the passion of joy just now and could not extricate himself.
Vibindakar
came back, and he saw his son sitting gloomily, with his head lowered, and he
had not boiled the milk or cooked the rice as usual. Vibindakar asked Antler
Rishi what happened?
The
Deer Antler Immortal said: "An ascetic came today. She has long braided
hair and golden light all over her body. Her body is so beautiful, and her eyes
are as beautiful as lotus petals. Her body exudes fragrance, and there are
flowers on her neck. Wearing sparkling jewelry, it was like lightning shining
through the clouds. Her waist was as slender as a willow, but there were two bulges
on her chest that were graceful. Her hands and feet were also slender and cute,
and her robes were dazzling, unlike mine. It was dark, and her voice was as
meandering as an oriole. She didn't use my water and sweet fruits, but handed
me her fruits. The taste of the fruits was completely different from what I had
eaten before. I drank her The water felt particularly pleasant, and the earth
seemed to be moving under my feet. When she left, I felt as if there was a
burning fire. I must chase her and accompany her forever. If I can't see her,
every day of my life will be like being tortured. "
Vibindakar
understood what was going on. He told his son that many Rakshasa in the forest
often seduced practitioners and led them astray. He asked his son to forget
what happened and devote himself to spiritual practice. Finally, Vibindakar
searched the entire forest and was relieved when he found no trace of a
Rakshasa.
The
next day, Vibindakar went out as usual. At this time, Princess Shanta came
again. The Deer Antler Immortal was having a great time with the princess. He
said: "Let's leave here together while my father is not here!" So
Princess Shanta took the Deer Antler Immortal on the raft and quickly The land
is heading towards Maozu Country.
As
soon as the Deer Antler Immortal stepped into the border of Maozu Kingdom,
sweet rain fell from the sky, the drought was relieved, and everything came
back to life. The king was very happy and held a grand wedding for the princess
and the Deer Antler Immortal.
Vibindakar
was very angry when he knew this. He angrily went to King Maozu to ask for
punishment. But the king's warm hospitality and rich gifts quickly made him
calm down and agreed to the marriage.
Princess
Shanta lived happily with the Deer Antler Immortal and gave birth to a son.
The
king of ten chariots was overjoyed to see the deer-antlered sage. Under the
guidance of the Deer Antler Immortal, the Ten Chariot Kings began to make up
their minds to hold a horse festival, which was coordinated and arranged by the
Deer Antler Immortal.
Agudengba

Taking the legendary wise Agu Demba as the protagonist, I started to create the Chinese-English version of "Snow Land Fable" using the traditional fable creation method that combines poetry and prose. Writing fables makes me feel like a child again. Studying snowy culture is my prescription to prevent Alzheimer’s disease.
