Indra

Indra

When Agudengba was traveling in Bangladesh, he met old man Rawani. Old Lavani opened the magical door of Bangladesh to him and told him about the history of Bangladesh. Now he smiled at Agudengba. Speaking of local folktales:

Once, the young Brahmin Utanka was asked by his master to stay at home because his master, who was an artist, was going on a trip. While Utanka was staying at home, the master's wife asked him to do personal service for her, but Utanka refused her on the grounds that "the master did not ask me to do such a thing."

The master's wife held a grudge over this incident. When Utanka completed his training period, he respectfully asked his master what kind of gift he wanted to give as a thank you. He was given a difficult question, that is, he was ordered to ask the queen holding Xia for an earring.

But Utanka still obeyed the order and went to the palace, devoted all his strength to presenting many gifts to the queen, and then made a most sincere request to the queen. The queen did not spare him any trouble, quickly took off the earrings and gave them to him, and said to Utanka Ka said: "Dakshakar, the snake king, also wanted this earring in the past. You have to be careful!"

After Utanka got the earrings, on the way back to his master's house, because he was hot and tired, he jumped into a small pond to take a refreshing bath. Unexpectedly, he was followed all the way by a begging monk in ragged clothes. The earrings were snatched away and fled without a trace.

Utanka was shocked when he was robbed, and immediately chased him. Unexpectedly, in the blink of an eye, the begging monk transformed into a snake king and got into the hole.

At this time, Utanka remembered the queen's instructions and couldn't help but feel dejected and began to feel sorry for himself.

Old Lavani continued:

Seeing him like this, God Indra sympathized with him and ordered the weapon vajra in his hand to say: "Go and help Utanka."

The vajra pounded underground and created a tunnel leading to the underground world. Utanka followed this tunnel to the underground Badala world and found the palace of the snake king.

Utanka flattered the snake clan and said all kinds of good things; however, there was no trace of the snake king Dakshakar. Just when he was at his wits' end, a man came forward with a horse and said to Utanka: "Blow on this horse's butt hole and see!"

Utanka did as he was told, blew a breath, and suddenly flames spurted out from the horse's mouth, and the snake king's world immediately fell into a sea of fire. At this time, the snake king appeared in the raging fire, and he returned the earrings he had snatched. Utanka, this man also gave his horse to Utanka and told him to rush back to his master's house as soon as possible.

In this way, Utanka returned to the master's house safely and at the agreed time, and handed the earrings to the master's wife.

The master said happily: "The man you met in the world of Badala is actually the god Indra, and the horse is the fire god Yakni. The god Indra is impressed by your integrity as a person, and That’s why I showed you favor.”

Old Lavani told Agudumba:

The god Indra also plays a role as a supernatural force in Chinese people's lives. The story of Dong Yong selling his body to bury his father and having the goddess assist in weaving has been passed down for two thousand years and is a household name. Dong Yong met the goddess of heaven, who once said to him:

The husband is now performing filial piety, and seeing you performing filial piety will make you feel happy in heaven.

Within a few days, one person returned to the lower realm and temporarily went to a foreign land.

Emperor Shi's relatives in the palace punished him, so he sent you and others to share the field.

Don't abandon people and stay with each other for a thousand years, and then fight with each other.

Emperor Shi was moved by Dong Yong and sent the goddess down to the lower world to marry Dong Yong.

The Emperor Shakti here is the god Indra, which is equivalent to what the Chinese call "Heaven" or "Emperor of Heaven", that is, God.

In the family story of Shun in ancient China before he came to the throne, his stepmother plotted to kill Shun three times, and the god Indra incarnated three times to save Shun. In Chinese folk stories, the god Indra, as the savior who rescued Shun from danger, appeared when Shun was in the most critical moment. In him, the people's good wishes for justice to prevail were entrusted to him.

God Indra is the highest deity of Taoism and resides in Daluotian. After the emergence of the Jade Emperor, the Jade Emperor is often considered to be the Emperor Shakti.

Old Lavani said:

God will bless everyone. This folklore story tells us: As long as you are an upright person, the god Indra will be with you.

The old man Lavani sang a song in Bengali in praise of Lord Shakti, "Indra the God of Heaven":

Heaven descended to release Tihuan Indra

He is the god Sakyamuni

Holding a vajra and riding a white elephant

The god of war who throws thunder and lightning

After the Buddha came to the world, he served as an attendant

Indra is the patron saint of Buddha

Wearing a crown and a necklace

Living in Shanjian City on Mount Sumeru

The ten emperors guard his side

Zhu Luohan Jianzhong Pavilion Lecture Hall

With gods, Buddhas and disciples

Discuss all good and evil things in the world

Became the Emperor of Heaven for doing good deeds

He was made to keep seven oaths

You should be happy to give up while you are alive

Respect elders, respect friends, and be kind

Emperor Shakti entered China

Become a god that people believe in

Dong Yong sells himself to the goddess to help with weaving

All have the divine help of Emperor Shakti

  1. Taking the legendary wise Agu Demba as the protagonist, I started to create the Chinese-English version of "Snow Land Fable" using the traditional fable creation method that combines poetry and prose. Writing fables makes me feel like a child again. Studying snowy culture is my prescription to prevent Alzheimer’s disease.
