Tao
Zhugong, the God of Wealth and Wealth
Agudengba smiled at the carriage driver A Zhuo
and said: In Taoist culture, there is a custom of worshiping the God of Wealth
during the Chinese Spring Festival. The God of Wealth is divided into Wen Wealth
God and Wu Wealth God. People who are good at literature worship the God of
Wealth and Wealth, and people who are good at martial arts worship the God of
Wu Wealth. Tao Zhugong, who has a good way of making money, is a literary god
of wealth. He was an outstanding politician, thinker and strategist during the
Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period. He was also a big
businessman who made money in a wise way.
Agudengba told the coachman Azhuo the story of
Tao Zhugong.
Tao Zhugong was once a famous scholar-bureaucrat.
He once assisted the king to defeat the enemy country. In order to regain the
lost territory, the monarch did not hesitate to sacrifice his ministers in
battle. Now that he got his wish, he did not want to attribute the restoration
of the country to his ministers. Tao Zhugong then resolutely resigned and
retired. He led his family and entourage, set up a small boat, and came to the
East China Sea.
Tao Zhugong and his son farmed the land near the
East China Sea and worked diligently to manage their family. The father and son
accumulated tens of thousands of dollars in wealth by farming, raising
livestock, and doing business, and became local tycoons. The father and son
often distributed their wealth to the people and taught them business and
financial management experience. From this, the people worshiped Tao Zhugong as
the God of Wealth.
Tao Zhugong also established a five-character
business motto: heaven, earth, humans, gods, and ghosts.
Heaven: It is innate wisdom and the foundation of
doing business;
Earth: To cultivate one’s abilities for the day
after tomorrow, and to establish oneself through integrity;
People: Be benevolent and righteous, know how to
choose, and pay attention to "a gentleman loves talents and chooses them
in a proper way";
God: To be brave and strong, to be decisive in
the face of trouble, to dare to venture and to do things;
Ghost: scheming and agile, capable of
"turning hands into clouds and turning hands into rain".
The deadline must be agreed upon, and no delay is
allowed. If you delay, credit will be lost.
Tao Zhugong also established the "Twelve
Precepts" for getting rich.
Don’t be vulgar, don’t be vain, don’t be
graceful,
Don’t argue, don’t be lazy, don’t be stubborn,
Don't go out lightly, don't be greedy for credit,
don't compete for fun,
Don't neglect your education, don't be ignorant,
don't be foolish.
Tao Zhugong's business wisdom has always been
respected by the people, so some descendants collected business experience and
compiled "Eighteen Taboos in Business" in the name of Tao Zhugong.
This shows that as the God of Wealth, he has a wise image in the minds of folk
businessmen. Tao Zhugong worked hard throughout his life and accumulated tens
of thousands of dollars. He was good at business and financial management, and
was able to spread money widely. Therefore, it is natural for him to be called
the God of Wealth and Wealth.
Agudengba sang a business folk song
"Eighteen Ways of Doing Business":
You have
to be diligent in business and don't be lazy, otherwise everything will be
wasted if you are lazy.
Be gentle
in your acceptance and don't be irritable. If you are irritable, you will have
fewer transactions.
The price
should be clearly stated and should not be vague. If there is ambiguity, there
will be more disputes.
Accounts
must be audited, and do not slack off. If you slack off, capital will stagnate.
The goods
should be organized and not scattered. If they are scattered, it will be
difficult to check.
Cashiers
should be careful and don't be careless. Carelessness will lead to many
mistakes.
Do your
duty when things happen, and don't let things go. If you let things go, you
will suffer big consequences.
Be frugal
in your expenses and avoid extravagance, as extravagance will lead to depletion
of money.
Buying and
selling should be done at any time, do not delay, otherwise you will miss the
opportunity.
When using
credit, you need to know the person well and don't overuse it, otherwise you
will lose all your money.
The good
and bad should be distinguished clearly, and do not confuse. Confusion will
lead to great consumption.
Employers
should be upright and not skewed, otherwise it will be difficult to entrust
them to others.
The goods
must be inspected in person, and do not import them indiscriminately, otherwise
the quality and price will be low.
Money
accounts must be clear and do not be confused. Being confused will lead to
harm.
The mind
should be calm and do not act rashly, as this will lead to many mistakes.
Work
carefully and don't be rough, as roughness will lead to inferior products.
Speak
politely and don't be impetuous, as impetuousness will lead to many troubles.
The time
limit must be agreed upon and must not be delayed. If you delay, credit will be
lost.
