Debt free
Borrowing money,
borrowing money, borrowing money, the poor old man struggled in the fields all
his life. His wife died early and he could only stay with his daughter. It was
the first time for a man to get married, and for a girl to get married, in
order to allow her daughter to start a family, the poor old man borrowed money
from the landlord.
People eat all
kinds of grains, and in their long and short life, they cannot avoid the
emotions and desires, as well as the misfortunes and blessings that come and
go. It is inevitable for everyone to have a bad year or encounter a sudden
change and need money urgently. There are many examples of "a penny can
stump a hero". In this special situation, many people choose to borrow
money to meet emergencies and return it afterwards to preserve their temporary
dignity.
Xiao Siniang told
Agudengba and Chu Sanxing a story about the debt of a poor old man and a
landlord:
The poor old man
borrowed money from the landlord to consummate his daughter's marriage. This
cannot be considered a mistake.
"It is
natural to pay back debts" and "it is easy to borrow and repay, and
it is not difficult to borrow again" have long been established as the
only rules among the people.
The dilemma faced
by the poor old man is not simply "repaying debts", but the burden of
"paying back more debts". But when he borrowed money, he signed a
black and white contract with the landlord, which marked the beginning of his
tragic life.
The landlord lent
money to the poor old man. Of course, he was not showing mercy. He just wanted
to gain profits from the loan. On the surface, the rich are showing compassion
and generously reaching out to help, but behind the scenes, they are taking
advantage of the situation and forcing the poor to die.
Of course, the
poor old man borrowed money not to repay his debts. He believed that he would
be able to repay his debts by working extra hard. But in the days when harvests
are determined by God, if you encounter uncontrollable natural factors such as
poor harvests, floods and locust plagues, you will face difficulties in
maintaining survival, let alone repaying exponentially increasing debts. In the
years when "the north wind blows and snowflakes float", the food
harvest is poor, and the poor old man cannot repay his debt to the landlord. Of
course, failure to repay debts is not intentional, it’s just that you have more
than enough intentions but not enough energy.
When the landlord
lent money to the poor old man, he didn't even consider what he would do if
something unexpected happened and the poor old man had no money to pay back.
Only when you lend it out do you realize that it is easy to borrow money but
difficult to ask for money.
When the landlord
failed to collect the debt, he threatened the poor old man to use his daughter
to pay off the debt. The poor old man was forced to drink salt brine to commit
suicide, the daughter was forced to live in the mountains, her black hair
turned white, the father and daughter were separated, and the family was
ruined.
This story seems
far away, but in fact it is getting crazier today. What is the difference
between those who have countless mortgages and car loans and that poor old man
who has difficulty repaying his debts? What's the difference between the
powerful people who press for debt and the landlords?
It can be said:
Those who do good
will suffer poverty and their life will be shortened.
Those who do evil
will enjoy noble blessings and a longer life.
Borrowing money
leads to collapse. In the final analysis, it is because the evil of human
nature can easily be revealed under the magic mirror of money. Regardless of
whether you are borrowing or being borrowed, without exception, there is always
the risk of being defeated by the evil of human nature.
Xiao Siniang sang
a "Debt Collection Song" with resentment:
The cruel truth is heartbreaking,
When is the end of exploitation and oppression?
A miserable life in exchange for reflection,
Who can have the power to recover?
Poor man who has no way out,
There is no hope for livelihood.
The rich man commits violence in his drunken dreams,
The poor dream of being insulted.
Remember to be debt-free and clear.
Blood debts must be repaid with blood.
There will be retribution for all the evildoers in the
world.
There is a time for revenge.
Taking the legendary wise Agu Demba as the protagonist, I started to create the Chinese-English version of "Snow Land Fable" using the traditional fable creation method that combines poetry and prose. Writing fableskes me feel like a child again. Studying snowy culture is my prescription to prevent Alzheimer’s di masease.
