Reincarnated foal
The old man Wu Baigui told Agudengba, Chu Sanxing,
Dawa, and Xiang Qima a story about a cowherd boy who was reincarnated as a cow
to pay off debts and repay the debt to Master Tang. He then told a story about
the reincarnation of a pony.
The old man Wu Baigui said:
That is a real thing that happened in Master Tang's
home. Master Tang lives in my same village and is 71 years old. He is a famous
ancestral traditional Chinese medicine practitioner and he is the fifth
generation. After his ancestral home moved to Myanmar from China, he not only
had superb medical skills, but also learned Taoist techniques, Feng Shui, and
numerology for generations. He also diligently practiced Buddhism throughout
his life and was very diligent in studying Buddhism.
Master Tang has six brothers and sisters, the eldest
is now 91 years old. Master Tang is the eldest in the family. What is very rare
is that all his brothers and sisters are still alive.
Not long ago, when I was on an outing, I stopped by
Master Tang's house to make some noise. As we chatted, we talked about learning
Buddhism and about cause and effect. Master Tang told me a real thing that
happened in his family. It was the occurrence of this incident that made him
firmly believe in the truth of cause and effect since he was a child, and he
avoided many detours.
The old man Wu Baigui said:
The thing is like this, Master Tang’s father’s family
is well off, because his family has been practicing medicine for generations
and has no worries about food and clothing. One night, Master Tang's father had
a dream. He had a clear dream that a man wearing a white bellyband came to him
and said that he would pay him the three yuan he owed him. He took a closer
look and saw that it was an uncle from afar. The money has not been returned
for a long time. I reached out to take the money. Suddenly I thought that this
person had been dead for a few years, and I suddenly woke up from my dream.
At this time, the waiter at home came and knocked on
the door, saying that the old horse at home had given birth to a foal, and
asked the owner to take a look.
Master Tang's father put on his clothes and went out
to take a look. He saw a little pony lying there in the horse pen. It was white
from belly to neck. Everyone was talking about the horse's strange appearance
and the white around its neck. Mao looked like he was wearing an apron.
Master Tang's father was shocked and told the men to
take good care of the horse, not to let it work, but to provide it with good
grass and good food. The horse quickly gained weight under the careful care of
the men, but the men were puzzled because the owner just wouldn't let it work
and couldn't figure it out.
A few years later, the horse died, and Master Tang's
father asked the man to take the horse out and find a place to bury it. Now the
guys started talking privately, what's wrong with this boss? You don't let the
horse work, and you have to bury it when it dies? So what do you do with it?
The guys were grateful that their boss was always kind
to them, so a few of them secretly decided to kill the horse, skin it and sell
it.
During the meal, the guys happily came to tell Master
Tang’s father that the horsehide was profitable. After handing the money to the
boss, Master Tang's father saw that it was no more or less, exactly three
oceans.
The old man Wu Baigui said:
After experiencing this incident, Master Tang's father
often told his children that cause and effect are true. Master Tang heard this
incident with his own ears since he was a child, and vowed to record it. He
aroused the right view of cause and effect, and hoped that all sentient beings
would soon be free from suffering and achieve happiness, and be reborn in the
Western Paradise.
The old man Wu Baigui said to Agudengba, Chu Sanxing,
Dawa and Xiang Qima:
I am grateful for Master Tang's narration and share it
with you. I hope that all living beings like us will believe in cause and
effect, abide by the precepts, listen carefully, think about and practice
seriously, and become Buddhas as soon as possible!
The old man Wu Baigui sang a song
"Integrity":
Is your character good or
not?
See the results at checkout;
Pay off your debts at the end
of the year,
There will be no credit for
the coming year.
Borrow money to thank
friends,
Pay back the money and be
loyal;
Don't make excuses.
Think of your own solution.
No debts have been paid in
this life,
The next life must also be
clear.
Reincarnated as a cow or
horse,
Clear the account without any
debt.
Breaking one's word is the
wrong way to go.
It is difficult to move
forward;
Integrity is the road,
You can move forward with
strides.
Taking the legendary wise Agu Demba as the protagonist, I started to create the Chinese-English version of "Snow Land Fable" using the traditional fable creation method that combines poetry and prose. Writing fableskes me feel like a child again. Studying snowy culture is my prescription to prevent Alzheimer’s di masease.
