Debt collector
On the banks of the beautiful Irrawaddy
River in Myanmar, Chu Sanxing and Agudengba chatted about the bad people in the
world who owed money but did not pay back.
Chu Sanxing said: There is a popular saying,
it is the grandson who borrows money, and it is Lao Tzu who owes money. Owing
money to others is like saving money in a bank to increase profits. Every day
you don't pay it back, the money will increase day by day. If you can't even do
the essence of being a human being in this world, how can you seek wealth, let
alone get relief.
Chu Sanxing believed in Buddhism. He said
to Agudengba: People in the world are ignorant and think that if they don't pay
back the money they owe others, they will become rich. However, they don't know
that there are gods three feet above their heads, and the cause and effect will
not be confused at all. . Money is something that cannot be explained or
understood, but if you do not repay the money you owe, the consequences will be
staggering. It is very common to owe money, but the consequences behind it will
also be very serious.
Chu Sanxing believes in Buddhism, because
Buddha will punish those who do not pay back money; he also believes in ghosts,
because at least there is a debt collector who will not let go of those who do
not pay back money.
Chu Sanxing pointed to the grove by the
river and said to Agudengba:
There is a family living next to this
grove. The owner is the accountant of Da Sima's family. Although he has never been
an official in his life, he manages money and food in Da Sima's family. Over
the past few years, his family has become rich.
One day, he had a strange dream. He dreamed
that a man came up and said, "You owe me forty taels of silver, pay me
back quickly!"
The accountant was stunned, and before he
could answer, the debt collector walked straight into the house.
After the accountant woke up from his
dream, his wife gave birth to a son. The accountant suddenly realized that his
son was the debt collector, but he also had a fate in his past life and could
not do anything about it.
So, the accountant took out forty taels of
silver and put it in another place. All expenses such as food, medicine,
clothes, etc. for his son were taken from there.
When the son was three or four years old,
the accountant went to check the remaining money and found that there was only
700 money left. By chance, the wet nurse came over with her son in her arms.
The son was joking and playing with the clerk. The clerk said jokingly: "Son,
your forty taels of silver are almost gone. What should you do?" As soon
as he finished speaking, The son's face suddenly changed, his neck tilted, his
eyes widened, and he was already dead.
Later, the accountant used the remaining
money to bury his son properly, without even a penny left.
Chu Sanxing told Agudengba another story about a debt collector:
There is also a family named Wang Yeliang
living in the grove. His neighbor fell ill and died of a sudden illness, but
the money Wang Yeliang owed him was not repaid.
Later, Wang Yeliang's wife became pregnant.
On the day of delivery, Wang Yeliang suddenly saw his dead neighbor walking
towards him. He said to Wang Yeliang, "I'm here to collect debt. Why
haven't you paid back the money you owe me?" After saying that, he broke
into the delivery room without authorization, and then Wang Yeliang's wife gave
birth to a son.
Wang Yeliang's son kept getting sick after
he was born, and many doctors were consulted, but after the child died, he
spent exactly 10 yuan on doctors and medicine. Wang Yeliang suddenly realized
that the child was a debt collector entrusted by his neighbor!
Chu Sanxing said to Agudengba: Therefore,
the debtor must pay back what he owes, and what he owed in the previous life
must be paid back. As long as it is settled, it will be easy!
Chu Sanxing sang a song called
"Retribution for Failure to Pay Debts":
Deliberately
defaulting on your debt is unethical.
Unknown
cause and effect will lead to retribution.
Cause
and effect are never empty,
Whether
you believe it or not.
The
law of cause and effect governs life and death,
Failure
to pay debts is a sure disaster.
Debts
must be paid sooner or later,
Don't
anger the debt collector.
If
you don't pay back the money you owe in your previous life,
Retribution
will come if the debt is not repaid.
The
family is broken and the person lives a life of poverty.
After
death, he turns into a pig and is slaughtered by others.
Taking the legendary wise Agu Demba as the protagonist, I started to create the Chinese-English version of "Snow Land Fable" using the traditional fable creation method that combines poetry and prose. Writing fableskes me feel like a child again. Studying snowy culture is my prescription to prevent Alzheimer’s di masease.
