Debt collection and debt avoidance
Agudemba met a young man on his way home.
The young man told him about his failure to collect debts and felt very sad.
Agudemba then told him a story about debt
collection:
Once upon a time, there was a hawker who
lent his friend half a penny. Many days passed without repayment, so the hawker
went to collect the debt.
On the way to collect debts, the hawker saw
a big river in front of him, so he hired a boat to ferry him across the river.
He paid two yuan and then crossed the river.
When the hawker reached the other side of
the river, he didn't see his debtor. He had to cross the river and go home,
which cost him two more money.
For half a penny of debt, the hawker spent
four penny and was tired from traveling back and forth.
The debt was small, but the cost of
collecting it was huge. As a result, the hawker was ridiculed by everyone.
Agudengba said: The same is true for the
world. In order to repay one's own losses, there is nothing wrong with collecting
debts. But in order to repay a small loss, he ruined his originally comfortable
life, fell into pain and annoyance, and even had to pay more, which is really
not worth the loss.
Agudemba continued:
The debtor was indeed very poor and owed a
lot of debt. He had no way to repay it, so he had to flee elsewhere.
One day, he escaped to the desolate field
on the other side of the river. He saw a box thrown there. When he opened the
box, he saw that there were pearl treasures inside, covered with a mirror.
At that time, the man was very happy when
he saw it, so he went to get the treasures. However, what he saw in the mirror
was not himself, because he had become disheveled and looked not like a human
being or a ghost. He was frightened. He quickly retracted his hand, feeling
very uneasy, and said to the person in the mirror: "I thought it was an
empty box with nothing in it. I didn't expect you to be here. Please don't be
offended!"
He then scurried away, but accidentally
fell into a nearby pit.
Agudengba said to the young people: The
most difficult thing in this world is my own level. Many people have
degenerated into dead people and living ghosts. People who forget themselves
are the most terrifying people.
Agudemba sang a song "Borrowing
Money":
When
someone borrows money, I beg you,
When
you pay back the money, you beg others.
The
people who borrowed money this year are all uncles.
Tomorrow
the debt collectors will be Sun Tzu!
It’s
as difficult as going to the sky to get an account.
Friendships
are often lost because of money.
You
should understand one thing:
It’s
not difficult to borrow money if you trust us!
Friends
who are willing to lend you money,
Everyone
knows that it is difficult to collect accounts.
What
is lent is actually trust.
Paying
back money is the basis for seeing each other again.
Taking the legendary wise Agu Demba as the protagonist, I started to create the Chinese-English version of "Snow Land Fable" using the traditional fable creation method that combines poetry and prose. Writing fables makes me feel like a child again. Studying snowy culture is my prescription to prevent Alzheimer’s disease.
