Three debt collectors
The wealth in heaven and earth is always
limited, and the amount a person deserves will be different. It's not that some
people don't understand the relationship, so they create many tricks to compete
with each other, and grudges and resentments in the world will arise
accordingly, resulting in karma and retribution, which can even last for three
lives.
Agudengba told Chu Sanxing that children
who died under minors were debt collectors, also known as short-lived ghosts.
There are many examples of this.
Agudengba told a story about a Burmese debt
collector:
Myanmar has had human activities since the
Upper Paleolithic Age 10,000 years ago. At that time, the villages along the
Irrawaddy River in Myanmar were already inhabited by humans. According to
legend, the Pyu people entered the upper reaches of the Irrawaddy River in 200
BC and controlled the trade route between China and India. Two centuries later,
the Mon came to the Xitang River Basin, and in 849 the Burmese took over the
Piao River Basin and established the city of Bagan.
Within Myanmar, starting from the 1st
century, regional countries have been established one after another, with
relatively advanced agricultural production technology, religion, and culture,
which provided favorable conditions for the rise of the Bamar people. In the
north, there is the Shan State established by the Shan ethnic group. From 97 to
131, the Shan State sent envoys to visit China's Eastern Han Dynasty three
times.
Once, when Monk Dushun from China was
begging for alms in Shan country, he met a Mon benefactor holding his son and
begging the monk to help him eliminate misfortunes and prolong his life. Monk
Du Shun looked at the child intently for a long time and said, "This child
was your enemy. Now you need to confess to him."
After finishing the fast meal, Monk Dushun
asked the donor to carry the child to the river, and then the monk threw the
child into the water. The child drowned all of a sudden. The donor and his wife
could not help but beat their chests and stamp their feet, and howled loudly.
The monk said, "Please don't make
trouble! Your son is still there!" He pointed with his hand. Sure enough,
the donor saw their son transformed into a six-foot-long body and stood on the
water waves. He scolded the donor angrily: "You took my gold and silk in
your previous life, killed me, and pushed me into the water. If it weren't for
the Bodhisattva If you resolve your grievances with me, I will never forgive
you!"
So the couple silently believed in the
monk's magical power.
Agudengba told another story about a debt
collector from Piao:
About the 4th century later, the number of
Nanzhao and Piao people who may have moved south from the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau
continued to increase. Nanzhao took the Dali area as its base, while the Piao
people moved to central Myanmar and gradually established their country. After
the rise of the Pyu Kingdom, they conquered the Shan Kingdom. From 613 to 718,
when the Vishnu Rama Dynasty ruled the Pyu Kingdom, it was very powerful, with
18 vassal states, 298 tribes and 9 towns. Its territory reached Nanzhao in the
north, which is now the border area between Dehong, Yunnan, China, and Myanmar.
It borders Luchenla to the east, and is now the area bordering Thailand, Laos
and Cambodia. To the west it borders Eastern Tianzhu, present-day Assam and
other places in eastern India. As far as the sea in the south, it occupies the
entire Irrawaddy River basin.
During the Piao Kingdom, there was a tenant
named Na Luo Yu in Nanzhao. He gave birth to a son when he was more than 30
years old. fulfill his wish.
It is a pity that this child was born weak
and sick, and the family spent all their money on trying to treat him. Because
of this, the family lived in poverty.
When the child was fourteen years old, the
child suddenly called his father's name and said: "Luo Yu, I am not your
son. I am Yiluo from Dongtianzhu. I am here to ask for the five hundred
thousand Wen you owe me." , now it’s basically collected, and there are
still 15,800 Wen left. You can use 12,000 Wen to buy me a coffin, 3,000 Wen to
buy clothes for burial, and you can use the remaining 800 Wen as you wish. I'll
settle the score with you!"
The child then said to his mother: "I
am grateful to you. I have not been able to repay my mother's gift of giving
birth. I will repay you in my next life!"
After saying this, the child died. The
situation of this child was called a debt-collecting ghost in ancient times.
For Na Luo Yu, the tenant, he was
relatively lucky. At least he finally found out that this child was here to
collect debts. Once the debt was cleared, the relationship was let go. At least
he would no longer suffer from worry. .
The sad thing is that many people who
encounter this situation do not know the inside story and cannot let go of the
pain of losing a child. They are immersed in it all day long and are in
unbearable pain. well! Combine this story. Mr. Chu Sanxing, you should
carefully appreciate it, people are so pitiful and helpless sometimes!
Agudengba also told Chu Sanxing a story
about an enemy who was reincarnated to demand a life debt during the reign of
the Bagan Dynasty:
The Bagan Dynasty ruled from 1044 to 1297.
The Bagan Dynasty was the first unified feudal dynasty in Myanmar. In 849,
Piimbia established the Kingdom of Bagan. In 1004, the Kingdom of Bagan sent
envoys to China to pay tribute to the Northern Song Dynasty. In 1044, Anuruddha
ascended the throne as king; at that time, various countries in Myanmar were
competing for hegemony, and the Kingdom of Bagan believed in the Arisan sect, a
branch of Mahayana Buddhism.
Anuruddha actively developed outward. In
1057, he sent his troops south to attack the Meng country, Zhitong. After
defeating Zhitong, the Kingdom of Bagan gained access to the sea. After
occupying the Strait State, Anuruddha introduced Theravada Buddhism to the
Kingdom of Bagan and established it as the state religion.
During this period, a Bagan minister in
charge of sea access was impatient and advocated killing by force. One of his
subordinates, Rodiko, was a believer in the Ali Sanya sect of Mahayana
Buddhism. He often used Buddhist concepts to dissuade Bagan ministers from
being benevolent and righteous and not to use violence easily.
The Bagan minister was very angry. He wanted
to establish his authoritarian status, so he found a trumped-up charge and
sentenced Rodico to death. Before he was executed, Rodico said angrily:
"You relied on your power to frame me, and I will take revenge! The Buddha
will help me!"
After some time, the Bagan minister was
taking a nap when he suddenly saw his subordinate Rodiko, who was killed by
him, coming in from outside and going straight to his inner house. After a
while, the inner house came to report that he was happy with his grandson.
The Minister of Bagan understood that this
must be the reincarnation of his enemy Rodiko, so he told his family that he
would not allow his grandson to meet him.
Four or five years later, one summer day,
the Bagan minister was sleeping soundly on his back under the big tree in his
back garden. At this time, the wet nurse led his little grandson to play in the
garden.
The little grandson had a great time
scratching around on the ground with a knife in his hand, while the wet nurse
chatted with another maid.
Unexpectedly, at some point, this little
grandson walked up to his grandfather, the Minister of Bagan, who was sleeping
soundly, and used a knife to draw on his grandfather's belly.
The sleeping Bagan minister felt itchy in
his belly. He thought it was a fly, so he swatted it hard. Unexpectedly, he
slapped the handle of the knife, and the knife penetrated his stomach. The
Bagan minister was seriously injured and died.
The little grandson who was reincarnated by
his enemy Rodiko finally avenged his injustice and murder in his previous life.
The Bagan minister also received the punishment of death.
Agudengba sang a song called "Buddha
Will Help Me":
Human
life and death are subject to reincarnation.
Like
trucks coming and going;
The
cycle of cause and effect changes rapidly,
The
retribution of good and evil is incredible.
The
grievances and entanglements stem from plundering money,
Protecting
rights based on unjust, false and wrongful convictions.
Go
to great lengths to seek benefits,
Gratitudes
and resentments arise.
All
six relatives have a predestined relationship.
There
is no saying that they are all flesh and blood;
If
someone with a discerning eye reveals it,
Then
I realized that the person who came was a debt collector.
The
poison of resentment is too deep,
Retribution
can last three lives.
Repay
evil with kindness and treat everything with kindness,
Buddha
will help me resolve my resentment.
Taking the legendary wise Agu Demba as the protagonist, I started to create the Chinese-English version of "Snow Land Fable" using the traditional fable creation method that combines poetry and prose. Writing fableskes me feel like a child again. Studying snowy culture is my prescription to prevent Alzheimer’s di masease.
