The Revenge of the
Little Prince
Girl Dawa
accompanied Mr. Agudenba to the "Little Buddha" hotel at the border
of Bangladesh and Myanmar. The owner of the hotel, Mr. Amon, told them the
story of the origin of the hotel's name.
Mr. Amon pointed to the statue of the child enshrined in the hotel and said with a smile: This child is the little Bodhisattva. He was once the prince of Paranai. He led the army to defeat the enemy army that invaded the city of Paranai.
Mr. Amon said to
Mr. Agudemba and Miss Dawa:
At that time, the
king of Paranai faced an enemy invasion. After escaping from the city, he built
a wooden house by a river, where the king and queen lived.
The prince of the
king of Paranai defeated the invading enemy army. The prince came here to take
the king and queen back to the city, but the king did not want to return to the
city. He said to the prince: You have regained the lost land through military
means. I am very happy. Happy. But you should also learn to govern the country.
I am already old. I can quietly cultivate myself here for a while. When you
manage the country well, I will return to the city to retire.
The prince could
not persuade the king, so he returned to the city and concentrated on managing
the country.
However, the
queen, who accompanied the king to live in seclusion in the mountains and
forests, soon became pregnant. During the day, the king and the priest went to
the forest to find food and gathered wild fruits to satisfy their hunger,
leaving the attendants at home to take care of the queen. The queen was very
dissatisfied with this kind of life. She was unwilling to give up life in the
royal city and chose to live in the mountains and forests.
In order to change
her destiny, the queen colluded with the king's attendants. They kept going
back and forth, and they fell in love with each other as time went by. Soon she
did something deviant. The queen wanted to use this attendant to rebel and
return to the royal city.
One day, the queen
said to the attendant: Once the king knows about us, neither you nor I will
survive. So what should we do? Kill him? Ah, kill him? Yes, when he goes to
take a bath, he always asks you to help him get his sword and clothes. In this
way, you can take advantage of him when he is not prepared, chop off his head
with your sword, chop his body into several pieces, and bury him in the ground.
The attendant who
wanted to leave the forest and return to the royal city said: This is a good
idea. In order to keep the secret between us, I think this is the only way.
A few days later,
the king and the priest went to gather wild fruits. The priest came to the pond
and climbed up a tree to pick the fruit. At this time, the king wanted to take
a bath, so he asked his attendants to come to the pond with their swords and
clothes.
When the king was
taking a bath, the attendant took him by surprise, drew his sword, and chopped
off his head with one blow.
At this time, the
priest was picking fruits not far away. He heard the noise and looked over and
saw the attendants killing the king. He was so frightened that he hurriedly got
into a bush and hid inside. He saw the attendants cutting the king's body into
several pieces and burying them in the soil, and then returned.
After the
attendants left, the priest climbed out of the bushes. He witnessed the
attendant killing the king and was afraid that he would be killed as well, so
he pretended to be blind and returned to the wooden house.
When the attendant
saw him, he asked: High Priest, what's wrong with you?
The priest
pretended not to recognize the attendant and said: King, my eyes were blinded
by touch. I was picking fruits in the forest, and the saliva of a poisonous
snake dripped into my eyes. Now I'm poisoned by the snake's poison and I can't
see anything!
The attendant
thought to himself: This guy doesn't know what I do, he thinks I am the king!
I'll just keep him, he may be of some use in the future. Therefore, he
comforted the priest and said: High priest, don't worry, the queen and I will
take care of you. After he had finished speaking, he gave the priest much
fruit.
From then on, the
attendants went out to gather fruits every day and brought them back to the
queen and the priests.
One night, the
queen and her attendants were sleeping together. The queen asked her
attendants: When you killed the king, no one saw it, right?
Attendant: Don’t
worry, no one will see it.
The two of them
were talking, thinking that the priest was not awake yet. In fact, the priest
had woken up long ago and heard their conversation clearly.
Soon, the queen
gave birth to a son. The priest decided to stay and protect the little prince.
The priest has been using various methods to educate the little prince and let
him learn various knowledge.
The little prince
grew up day by day, and when he reached the age of sixteen, he had become an
adult.
The queen said to
the attendant: The little prince has grown up. We should take him back to the
city and let him take over the throne and become the king. We can't always live
in these deep mountains and old forests.
The priest knew
the plans of the queen and her attendants.
One day, the
priest asked the little prince to hold a stick and lead him to the pond. When
he got there, the priest suddenly opened his eyes, looked around, and saw that
no one was there, so he told the little prince about the attendant who had
conspired with the queen, killed the king, and pretended to be the king.
With that said,
the priest pulled out the king's bones and clothes from the ground. He said to
the little prince: This is your father's body.
The little prince
woke up from a dream and was furious. He was about to go back to find the queen
and her attendants for revenge.
The priest
dissuaded him and said: My son, please don't be impulsive. You should retaliate
with tooth, right here in the pond, and deal with him the way the attendants
dealt with your father.
Then the priest
spent several days teaching the prince how to use the sword.
Everything was
ready. One day, the little prince took the sword and clothes and said to the
attendant: It's very hot, let's go take a bath!
The attendant
readily agreed and went to the bath with the little prince. When the attendant
went into the water to take a bath, the little prince held the sword in his
right hand and grabbed his neck with his left hand, saying: You once killed my
father here, and now I will kill you to pay for my father's life.
After the little
prince said this, he cut off the attendant's head with a sword. After the
little prince buried the body, he washed his sword, took a bath, and returned
to the wooden house. He told the priest how he had killed the attendant, and
had the queen arrested. Finally he said to the priest: Let's go back to the
city of Parana now!
After arriving in
the city of Parana, the prince made his little brother the prince. After the
prince ascended to the kingdom of heaven, he passed the throne to the little
prince. The little prince became the king. He was diligent in state affairs and
considerate of the people, and the country of Parana was well governed.
After Mr. Amon
finished telling this story to Miss Dawa and Agudengba, he sang a song
"Father's Love is Like a Mountain" in which the little prince
commemorated his father:
The mottled moon shadow reflects on the lotus
pond
I deeply remember my father
I can't describe him with words
He is a kind old man
In order to give the country a benefactor
Father gave up the throne
Cultivate your children to be independent
To better serve the people in the future
He lived a miserable life in seclusion in the
mountains and forests
But he endured the humiliation and never
complained.
Educate children with silent language
Don’t fight for fame and fortune in the
future
Behind good people there are always evil
people
Murdering those who seize power will
inevitably lead to evil consequences
The little prince successfully avenged his
father
Succession to the throne, protecting the
family, defending the country and enriching the people
The evil of human nature will be condemned by
everyone
The goodness of human nature will be praised
by heaven and earth
A father's love is like a mountain, and it
will never be possible to repay his kindness.
Every filial son has a good father
Taking the legendary wise Agu Demba as the protagonist, I started to create the Chinese-English version of "Snow Land Fable" using the traditional fable creation method that combines poetry and prose. Writing fableskes me feel like a child again. Studying snowy culture is my prescription to prevent Alzheimer’s di masease.
