Savi Dolly

Girl Dawa cuddled up next to Agudemba and listened to Agudemba telling the touching love story of Savitri and Sativa.

Agudenba said:

Once upon a time there was a beautiful princess in the country of Modero. Her name was Savitri. She gained the reputation of a "faithful woman" because of the great favor she obtained from the King of Hell.

The owner of King Horse of Modro has no children. He practiced hard and hoped to have children. He offered sacrifices and prayed to the goddess Savidiani, the wife of Brahma, and the goddess gave him a daughter, Savitri. This girl is beautiful and graceful, like a fairy. Her eyes are blazing, as bright as lotus petals; she is like a golden statue; she is very beautiful and elegant.

Savitri fell in love with a young man named Sativa. Although Sativa lived in seclusion in a monastery in the forest, he was of royal origin. His father was a virtuous king named Yaojun; because he was blind, his territory was taken away by an

old enemy from a neighboring country. The king who lost his throne took his loyal wife and only son to live in the mountains and forests. The son gradually grew up and became a handsome young man.

When Savitri told her father about her love affair, the prophet Narada, who was sitting next to her father, said: "Oh, the princess made a mistake in choosing this prince Sativa as her husband! He is very handsome. Very brave, very honest, very magnanimous; he is also very humble, very patient, very friendly, very upright; he has all the virtues. But he has one flaw, this is his only flaw: he is born short-lived. One year from today After that, he will die, which is decreed by God. One year later, the king of hell will come to take her back. "

The king said to his daughter: "Ah, Savitri, you have heard Narada's words. In this case, go and choose another man to be your husband. The days of this Sativa are only a few. Counting. "

The beautiful girl answered her father: "The dice has been thrown, and it can only be thrown once. A father can marry a daughter only once. A woman can only say 'I am yours' once. I have chosen I have decided to be my husband. I can only choose once, not a second time. No matter whether Sativa is short-lived or long-lived, I must marry him."

Narada said, "Oh, King, your daughter is determined. She will definitely follow the path she has chosen without wavering. In this case, I am in favor of marrying Savitri to Sativa."

The king said: "Narada, since you agree, I will do what you say, because you are my master and I always listen to you."

Then Narada said, "May Savitri's marriage go well! Now I am leaving. I wish you all happiness!"

After this, Savitri's father, the king, went to the forest to visit Sativa's blind father Yaojun, and his daughter went with him.

Yaojun said to the horse owner: "Why are you here?"

The horse owner said: "Wise king, I am here for my daughter Savitri. Please accept her as your wife. "

Yaojun said: "I have lost my kingdom and now live in this forest with my wife and son. We live the life of ascetics and practice here. Is your daughter used to the hard life in the forest?" "

The horse owner said: "My daughter understands very well that happiness and pain in the world come and go, and there is no certainty of happiness anywhere. So please accept her as your wife. "

So Yaojun agreed to let his son marry Savitri. Sativa was very happy because he married a wife who was both talented, beautiful and virtuous. Savitri was also happy because she got a man of her choice. She took off her royal clothes, took off her ornaments, and put on a bark coat and a red shirt.

In this way, Savitri became a reclusive monastic woman. She respected Sativa's parents and made her husband very happy because of her gentle speech, excellent craftsmanship, gentle temperament and sincere love. She lived an ascetic life and was very strict with herself. But she never forgot the dire prophecies of the prophet Narada; his sad words were always in her mind, and she counted the days day by day.

Finally, Sativa's death gradually came closer. When he only had four days to live, Savitri vowed to fast for three nights without sleeping or eating.

Blind Yaojun said: "Ah, my child, I am very sad for you, because it is very difficult to practice the 'Three Nights Fast'."

Savitri said: "Wise father, do not be sad. I will stick to my vow and I will pass the fast. "

Yaojun said: "People like me cannot advise you to break your vows; I can only advise you to abide by your vows. "

So Savitri began a hunger strike, and due to her strict fasting, her face became pale and haggard. Three days passed and Savitri believed that her husband would die tomorrow. She was so sad that she stayed up all night.

Finally, the sun rises and the unlucky day arrives. Savitri said to herself: "Today is that day. There is no blood on her face, but she looks very brave." She prayed silently and devoutly offered sacrifices in the sacred fire; then she walked to her father-in-law and mother-in-law, silently clasped her hands and saluted. The monks in the forest came to bless her and said, "May you and your wife grow old together and you will never be a widow."

Savitri said to herself, "I hope so."

So Yaojun said to her: "Now that your fast is over, you can have breakfast."

"I won't eat until the sun goes down," said Savitri.

After hearing her words, Sativa got up, picked up his ax, and went to the distant jungle to gather some fruits and herbs for his beloved wife. He is strong, calm and noble in appearance.

Savitri said to him very gently: "Husband, don't go alone. I want to go with you. I can't bear to be separated from you today."

Sativa said, "I cannot go into that dark jungle. The road is long and difficult to walk. You are weak after fasting. How can you walk such a long way?"

Savitri rested her head on his chest and said: "My fasting does not make me tired. Indeed, I become stronger and stronger. As long as you are by my side, I will not feel tired. I am determined to be with you." Come together; do not hinder my desire, which is the desire of a faithful wife to be with her husband."

Sativa said: "Since you must accompany me, I have to agree to it, but you must get the permission of my parents, otherwise they will blame me for taking you into the jungle where there are no human traces."

So Savitri said to Sativa's parents: "Sativan is going to the deep forest to find fruits and herbs for me, and also to collect firewood for the fire. I really want to go with him, because today I can't bear to leave." Be separated from him. I also want to see the flowers in the woods."

Yaojun said: "Since you came to live with us, you have never asked for anything. Therefore, we agree to this, but you must not delay your husband's work."

Savitri received permission and went with her dear husband to the jungle. There was a smile on her face, but her heart was filled with sadness.

In the woodland they walked together, peacocks were flapping their wings and the sun was shining brightly in the blue sky.

Sativa said softly: "How beautiful are the clear streams and flowering trees!"

Savitri's heart was divided into two halves: she used one half to talk to her husband, she looked at his face and followed his mood; the other half of her heart was waiting for the terrible coming of Lord Yama. But she never spoke of her fears.

The birds in the forest sang beautifully, but to Savitri it was her husband's voice that was even more beautiful. She felt that walking with him and listening to him talk was very precious.

Sativa gathered the fruits and put them in his basket. Finally, he began to chop off the branches. The sun was very hot and he was sweating. Suddenly he felt tired, and he said: "I feel a headache, I am not very clear, my legs are weak, and I feel very uncomfortable. I am sick, as if a hundred javelins are piercing my body. Ah, Honey, I really want to lie down and get some rest, I even want to sleep right now.”

Savitri, too frightened to utter a word, threw her arms around her husband's body; she sat on the ground with his head on her knees. She remembered Narada's words and knew that the terrible moment had come, the death of her husband. She stroked her husband's head tenderly with her hands, and kissed his breathing lips, her own heart beating violently. The forest grew dark, and everything was desolate.

Suddenly a scary ghost emerged from the shadows. He was tall, covered in black, and wore blood-red clothes. He wears a glowing crown on his head, his eyes are red and he looks scary. He carries a rope. This ghost is King Yama. He stood silently, gazing at the sleeping Sativa.

Savitri looked up, and her heart trembled with sorrow and fear when she saw a celestial being standing before her. She laid her husband's head on the grass, stood up quickly, and said, "Who are you, God? What brings you to me?"

King Yama said: "You really love your husband, and you also practice asceticism, so I would like to talk to you. You know, I am King Yama. Your husband's life has ended, and now I have come to bind him and take him away." take away."

Savitri said: "I have always heard people say that you send messengers to take away people from the world. Great God, why did you come down to earth in person this time? "

The king of hell said: "This prince is pure in heart, has countless virtues, and has thousands of talents. It is not appropriate to send an envoy to fetch him, so I came here myself."

Sativa's face had turned gray. Yama threw out his rope and pulled the soul out of the prince's body. The soul is as big as a thumb, and Yama has bound it tightly and subdued it.

Then Sativa lost his life, he stopped breathing. His body had become ugly, had lost its luster, and was incapacitated.

After the King of Hell tied his soul tightly, he turned around quickly and walked towards the south where hell is. He went his way silently and quickly.

Savitri follows him. Her heart was drowned in sorrow. She cannot abandon her dear husband. She followed the king of the underworld, Yama.

Yama said: "Savitri, go back. Don't come with me. Go and hold a funeral for your husband. Your relationship with Sativa ends here, and you no longer have the obligation of a wife to him. Don't do it anymore. Come up this road."

Savitri said: "Wherever my husband is taken, or wherever he chooses to go, I must go with him. I have practiced many penances. I stick to my vows and cannot retreat. I have joined you. Walk seven steps; the philosophers say that a man who walks seven steps with another becomes a companion. Now that I have become your companion, I want to talk to you; I want to speak, and you must listen. I Because I strictly abide by my vows and be loyal to my husband, I have cultivated perfect virtues in the world. You should not separate me from him now and deny me happiness. You should not say that my relationship with him has ended, but ask me to start it. Live another life.”

Yama said: "You turn around and go back!... Your words are very smart and touching, so before you go back, you can ask me for a favor, and I will grant it to you. I can't give you Sativa's gift." Soul, but beyond that I will give you anything you ask for.”

Savitri said: "My father-in-law was robbed of his kingdom because he was blind. God, I beg you to restore his sight."

The King of Hell said: "This request can be granted. I will restore your father-in-law's eyesight. ... But you have walked these roads and it has been very strenuous. Go back quickly and don't be too tired."

Savitri said: "How can I get tired when I am with my husband? My husband's destiny is my destiny. I will follow him to the place where you take him. . . . O God , I value your friendship very much, please listen to me! Seeing a god is a happy thing, and talking to him is even happier. Being friends with a god will definitely be of great benefit."

The King of Hell said: "Your kind words make my heart very happy. So you can ask for the second thing. Except for your husband's life, which I cannot give you, I can grant you everything else."

Savitri said: "I hope that my wise father-in-law can regain the kingdom he lost. I hope that he can once again be the protector of his people."

The king of hell said: "This request can be granted. The king will return to his people and be their wise protector...Princess, please go back now, your wish has been achieved."

Savitri said: "Everyone must obey your orders. You take life according to the provisions of God, not according to your own wishes. Therefore, you are called 'King Yama' - that is, you rule according to laws and regulations. People. Gods, please listen to me. It is the duty of the gods to love and protect all living beings and reward them according to their merits. Bad people have no faith and are ungodly; but sages protect all living creatures and show mercy even to their enemies."

Yama said, "Your good words are like nectar to a thirsty person. So you can make a third request to me; I will grant you anything except your husband's life."

Savitri said, "My father, the King of Horses, has no sons. Oh, I wish he could have a hundred sons."

The King of Hell said: "Your father will have a hundred sons. Your request has been granted. ...Princess, please turn around and go back. You can't go any further. You have come a long way."

Savitri said: "I have been following my husband and I don't think the road is long. Really, I want to go further. Ah, King of Hell, please listen to me while you are walking. You are great and very great. Wise and powerful. You treat all people equally, you are the Lord of justice. ... People trust the gods more than they trust themselves; therefore people should try to gain the friendship of the gods. Those who want the friendship of the gods should answer Words from God.”

The king of hell said: "No mortal has ever talked to me like you. Princess, your words are indeed very beautiful. Therefore, before you go, I want to grant you a fourth request, in addition to your husband's life. .”

Savitri said: "I hope that my husband and I can give birth to a hundred sons so that our race can continue. God, please grant my fourth request."

The King of Hell said: "I promise to give you a hundred sons, princess. They will be smart and strong, and your race will continue. ... Ah, girl, don't work too hard anymore, go back, you have gone. It’s quite a long way.”

Savitri said: "O Yama, good people must always practice virtue. It is good people who support the universe. Good people only associate with good people and never get tired of them. Good people show kindness to others without ever expecting anything in return. Right A good man's kindness will never be in vain, his honor will not be harmed, and his profit will not be lost. Indeed, the main duty of a good man is to do good, so a good man is the true protector of everyone."

The King of Hell said: "Ah, princess, the more you speak, the more I respect you. Ah, since you love your husband so much, you can ask me for a great favor."

Savitri said: "O God, you who give me grace, you have promised me one thing which I could not do, unless you gave me back my husband; you have promised me a hundred Son. Therefore I beg you, O Yama, to return to me my dear husband Sativa. Without him, I am as dead as a dead man; without him, I do not wish to seek any happiness; without him, I do not even wish to enter the world. Kingdom of Heaven; I will not covet glory and wealth after losing my husband; I cannot live without Satya Brahma. O Lord of Hell, you have promised me a son, but you have taken my husband away from my arms. Please listen to me Speak, grant me this grace: restore life to Sativa, so that what you have promised may come true.”

Yama said, "Okay, so be it. I release your husband now with joy. He will be restored to life immediately. He will not be attacked by disease again and everything will go smoothly for him. Both of you will live long; You will live four hundred years. You will have a hundred sons, and they will be kings, and their sons will be kings.”

After Yama finished speaking, he returned to his own residence. Savitri returned to her husband's cold, pale corpse in the forest. She sat on the floor and rested his head on her lap. Sativa was restored to life. He looked at Savitri with loving eyes, as if he had returned from a trip to a distant place.

Sativa said: "I slept for a long time; my dear, why didn't you wake me up? ... Where is that black guy who dragged me away?"

Savitri said: "King Yama has come and gone again. You slept for a long time with your head in my arms; now you have woken up, blessed one! Prince, the Sandman has left you and gone. ! If you can get up, let's get out of here, because it's already night. "

Sativa got up, refreshed and very strong. He looked around and saw that he was in the middle of the forest. So he said: "Ah, beauty, I came here to pick fruits for you. When I was cutting the branches, I suddenly felt a pain. I fainted, fell to the ground, rested my head on your arms, and let You hugged me and fell asleep. Later, I felt that everything around me was dark, and I saw a black person shining with light... Ah, my dearest, is this an illusion, or is it real? "

Savitri said: "It is very dark now... I will tell you everything tomorrow... Prince, let us go to our parents now. The beasts of the night are coming out, and I hear their terrible cries." The sound of them walking happily around the forest. The howling of jackals scares me."

Sativa said: "The dark night made the forest scary and we could not find our way home."

Savitri said: "There is a dead tree burning over there. I will pick up some branches and light a fire. Let's wait here until dawn before leaving."

Sativa said: "I have recovered from my illness, and I am eager to see my parents. I have never stayed at home for a night. My mother is old and my father is old, and they rely on me. We If you don’t go back by this time, they must be very anxious. "

Sativa raised his arms and cried sadly. Savitri wiped away his tears and said: "I have practiced asceticism, given alms, and offered sacrifices to gods; I never lie. With my merits, I wish your parents to be blessed by gods." ; I wish you, my husband, are also blessed by God!”

Sativa said, "Oh, beauty, let's go home now."

Savitri helped her disappointed husband up. She put his left arm on her left shoulder, her right arm around his waist, and they walked forward together. …Finally, the bright moon came out and illuminated their path.

During this period, Sativa's father Yaojun had recovered his sight, and he and his wife went out to look for their son. But they returned to the monastery sad and disappointed. The monks comforted the crying parents and said, "Savitri has practiced a lot of asceticism, so Sativa must be still alive."

Soon Sativa and Savitri returned to the monastery, and they and their parents were relieved.

Then Savitri narrated everything that had happened. The monks said: "Loyal and virtuous lady, you have saved Yaojun, the holy king family, from boundless darkness and suffering!"

The next morning, messengers came to Yaojun and told him that the king who had taken away his land was dead and had been killed by his own ministers. All the people demanded that their rightful king return to rule. The messengers said: "King, the carriage is waiting for you. Please return to your land quickly."

The envoys were very surprised to see that Yao Jun was no longer blind.

So, in accordance with the grace that Savitri had sought from King Yama, King Yaojun returned to his land and became the king. Savitri's father, the horse-owner Queen, later gave birth to a hundred sons. In this way, the virtuous Savitri, through her piety and loyalty, rescued her husband's family and her own father from their misery and made them prosperous. She is everyone's savior, she brings happiness and prosperity to everyone. Anyone who hears the story of Savitri will never suffer.

After listening to the love story told by Agudemba, the Dawa girl sang a touching love song "Fragrant Heart":

The river in front of me is flowing and singing

The river sings Savitri

Her skirt is floating on the river of love

Her footsteps sounded softly from far to near

There was a surge of excitement in my chest

I murmur silently in my heart

Could it be that Savitri came here?

So where is her lover Sativa?

Suddenly the voice of God came from the sky

God said the person you cling to is

It is the wise and kind-hearted Sativa

Look carefully at the reflection on the river

It's you who's eyes are filled with tears

You are the incarnation of Savitri

Fenfang can never finish telling her inner thoughts.

There are always whispers among the flowers and grass

True love lasts forever

You are Sativa and I am Savitri

Our fate will last forever

The great God of Love is blessing you and me
