The God of Snow created the
sun, moon and stars for the sky, and created forests and grasslands for the
earth. The God of the Snow Land created everything in the world and also
allowed human beings to enter the vast world.
In order to make human
beings enlightened, know how to distinguish between good and evil, know right
from wrong, and respect equality, the God of the Snow Land made the Bodhisattva
of Wisdom incarnate as Agudengba, who visited the poor and asked about their
suffering, rescued refugees, punished evil deeds, and admired love.
The Bodhisattva of Wisdom
incarnates Agudengba and was born in Gyantse County in the Shigatse region.
Agudengba was born into the aristocratic manor owner Ludzodeva's family, and he
was the son of a serf at birth.
The God of the Snow Land
told Agudengba: Only if you live among the people who are poor and have lost
their freedom can you feel their suffering. You must do more useful things for
the people and help them become wise and diligent to get rich. You must also
punish those evildoers and lazy people, so that they will not dare to misbehave
again.
Agudengba was born into the
family of the aristocratic manor owner Ludzodeva. The manor owner Ludzodeva was
a demon who oppressed serfs and fishy villagers. Agudengba used a trick to
trick him into drowning in the Brahmaputra River, and then fled his hometown
and wandered around.
Agudengba is a well-known
wise man in the snowy land, well-known to women and children. He is good at
catching the greedy, stingy, lustful and stupid weaknesses of the rich, and
uses his wisdom to cleverly punish them. Agudengba loved to tease big lamas,
zongs, lords, businessmen, and rich men. He punished those who were
"unkind for the sake of wealth" and "unruly", and entrusted
the spiritual revenge of the serfs.
Because Agudengba was smart
and witty, in order to commemorate him, the people in his hometown in Shigatse
built a square pagoda in the small stone house where he once lived. Legend has
it that good people will get happiness if they circle the pagoda and pray while
walking around; bad people will feel pain in their hearts when they see the
pagoda.
In the snowy areas of
Qianzang and Houzang, there are many stories about Agudengba acting wisely and
fighting against injustice. Among them, the most sung song is "Our
Agudumba":
Our
Agu Demba,
Not
a politician,
Not
a military strategist,
He
does not stand out in power struggles,
He
doesn't like intrigues and fights.
Our
Agu Demba,
Not
a Bachelor of Arts,
Not
a strategist,
He
does not seek fame and fortune through profit;
He
doesn't want to be a nerd who has learned a lot.
Our
Agu Demba,
Not
a son of a powerful person,
Not
a spiritual slave,
He
no longer humbles himself in submission,
He
doesn't want to be a pawn at the mercy of others.
Our
Agu Demba,
He
always hides his wisdom from the people,
He
is our God of wisdom.
