The song of the stubborn
cow
Agudengba and
his donkey walked along the path of the temple and unexpectedly saw a group of
cows resting on the ground. The leader of the group of cows was the old cow
master.
Agudengba asked
Lord Niu: In the Buddhist world, the status of cows is not as high as that in
Hinduism. In India, it is said that cows have a high status. Is this true?
Master Niu said
to Agudengba: Indians are divided into three, six or nine grades, and Indian
cattle are also divided into three, six or nine grades. In India, the white
bull is the mount of Lord Shiva. Among them, the white bull with a hump is the
most noble, followed by the ox, buffalo, etc. Therefore, in the Hindu temples
or murals that everyone sees, the image of a white cow with a hump often
appears, but there are basically no oxen or buffaloes. Some freight drivers
will paint white cows on their vehicles instead of scalpers or buffaloes.
Lord Niu
continued to Agudemba: Hindus drink milk and use cow dung as fuel, but they
never eat beef. Even McDonald's in India does not have beef burgers. They
specially launched the world's only vegetarian burger for Indians. Therefore,
in the living environment of Hindus, cows can run around happily. Cows can go
wherever humans can go on the streets, stations, bars, and restaurants. In an
absolute sense, humans and cows are equal. No, actually the cow has a higher
status.
The donkey was
very excited after hearing what Master Niu said. He said excitedly: There is an
afterlife, and I must be reincarnated into a cow.
Mr. Niu smiled:
On the eve of every major disaster in India, the white cows on the street would
be protected. For example, during the mad cow disease epidemic, before India
went into lockdown, the white cows on the streets disappeared and they were
protected by Hindus. India may not be able to protect Indians, but it can
definitely protect Indian cattle; Indians may not fight for Indians, but they
will fight for Indian cows, especially white cows. Smart donkey, if you want to
be reincarnated into a cow, you must become a white cow. If you become a cow,
ox or buffalo, then you will be the lowest cow in the cattle group, just like
us now, you will also Living on the streets, you have to take control of your
own survival.
Mr. Niu said to
Agudengba: There is no democracy, freedom and fairness in this world. This is true
for humans and the same is true for the cattle people.
At this time,
the cattle sang a rough and wild song "Survival in Adversity":
We are a herd of enslaved cattle,
Before his master could raise his whip, he jumped
on his feet,
We always survive in suffering,
Only suffering is the guide.
Facing the years of misfortune and suffering,
You have to believe that everything will pass,
Just as the night is followed by dawn,
You don't have to be depressed and desperate when
you encounter setbacks.
Happiness always uses the raw materials of
misfortune,
Only then can we brew sweet wine,
We will not be overwhelmed by misfortune,
Surviving adversity is a stubborn pursuit.
Taking the legendary wise Agu Demba as the protagonist, I started to create the Chinese-English version of "Snow Land Fable" using the traditional fable creation method that combines poetry and prose. Writing fables makes me feel like a child again. Studying snowy culture is my prescription to prevent Alzheimer’s disease.
