Devi
Crow Betty
told Agudumba some stories about the Snow Mountain Goddess. After the Gupta
Dynasty in India, the status of the goddess became increasingly prominent.
These goddesses shouldered many important tasks of rescuing people, even more
than the male gods. Even the goddess's fighting power and magical power surpass
those of many male gods.
Crow Betty
said to Agudengba: The goddesses in Chinese mythology basically symbolize
kindness, kindness, saving the world and benefiting the people, perhaps the
pursuit of love and the desire for freedom, such as Nuwa mending the sky and
Jing Jing. Wei reclamation, the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl, Butterfly Lovers,
Legend of the White Snake, Seven Fairies, Luoyang God... the deified goddess is
the hero of the Guo Kingdom, Hua Mulan.
Crow Betty
said: Chinese people have always valued boys over girls, and even those who
write mythological stories are not willing to deify women. The Indians are
completely different. For example, there is the story of the fierce battle
between Nanjomu and Mahisha, the leader of the Asuras, who killed the bull
demon King, and the legend of the Goddess Devi who was born specifically to
kill Asuras and demons.
Crow Betty
told Agudumba in detail the story of Parvati Dev's expedition, which was a
completely different legend from Hua Mulan's joining the army in place of her
father.
After King
Asura deceived the great god Brahma and obtained the invincible Vajra, he
assembled a powerful army of Asuras, formed an alliance with Rakshasa and other
evil tribes, committed evil and chaos everywhere, and challenged the gods. This
is a god-destroying war provoked by demons.
The three
main gods Brahma, Shiva and Vishnu were unwilling to interfere with the evil
deeds of King Vaji Asura, which made the goddess Devi Parvati angry. Parvati is
the wife of Shiva.
Parvati
said to the three main gods: I can go out on my behalf to defeat the evil-doing
King Asura.
The three
main gods were very surprised to see Parvati coming forward to fight on behalf
of her husband. But in the end, he agreed to Parvati's request and expressed
his full support and help in her challenge to King Asura.
The
beliefs of Parvati, the goddess of Devi, are extremely complicated because
during the creation of the world, her husband Lord Shiva was half male and half
female. Shakti refers to His female form. The changeable role of Goddess Devi
also reflects the complex character of her husband Lord Shiva. As Shiva has two
aspects, good and ferocious, so Goddess Devi also has two personalities, gentle
and ferocious. When He assumes the form of gentleness, He is the mother of all
creation and the wife of Shiva. In other words, she can also be the incarnation
of the female war goddess or the female devil.
Devi means
goddess in Sanskrit. Brahmanism adheres to monism and believes that Devi is the
prototype of all goddesses. Therefore, although the goddesses in Indian
mythology have many shapes, generally speaking, they are the spouses of the
three great gods, that is, Parvati, the wife of Shiva. , the wife of Vishnu,
the auspicious goddess, and the wife of Brahma, the goddess of eloquence.
Among
them, Parvati, the wife of Shiva, has the greatest power and is worshiped as
the Supreme Goddess Mahadevi, also known as the Great Goddess. As Shiva has two
aspects, good and ferocious, so Devi goddess Parvati also has two
personalities: gentle and ferocious.
Crow Betty
smiled and said: Mr. Agudumba, if you want to understand the legend of the
goddess in India, you might as well let me sing a song "Goddess Devi"
for you:
Ah, we are the goddess Devi!
We are all the incarnations of the Snow
Mountain Goddess,
Originally it was the pillar supporting the
mountains,
We are not hiding in underground caves,
The collapse of the sky and the collapse of
the earth cannot defeat Tipi's will.
In order to eradicate the Asura ghosts and
demons,
Let's go out together to fight against evil
spirits,
In order to let the light of the three realms
be reborn again,
We show no mercy in the face of evil.
Ah, we are the goddess Devi!
We love heaven, earth and all living things,
To defend freedom and punish the devil,
Our tenderness turns to hardness and
violence,
We are the patron saints of wealth and
happiness.
Taking the legendary wise Agu Demba as the protagonist, I started to create the Chinese-English version of "Snow Land Fable" using the traditional fable creation method that combines poetry and prose. Writing fables makes me feel like a child again. Studying snowy culture is my prescription to prevent Alzheimer’s disease.
