蜗牛一般是指腹足纲的陆生所有种类。一般西方语言中不区分水生的螺类和陆生的蜗牛，汉语中蜗牛只指陆生种类，但形状都相似。蜗牛属于软体动物，取食腐烂植物质，产卵于土中。蜗牛具有很高的食用和药用价值。
