The first traitor who shaves his hair and grows braids

The first traitor who shaves his hair and grows braids

The wise man Agudengba chatted with his friend Fang Shidi and Azhuo about the "shaving of hair and changing clothes". He mentioned that in the early days of Huang Taiji's accession to the throne in the Qing Dynasty in China, he once issued an order to shave hair and change clothes, forcing All Han people in Liaodong region followed the "Order of shaving their hair and wearing clothes easily". At the end of the war, all men in China had a long braid on the back of their heads. This was the dirtiest page in the history of Chinese civilization and the most humiliating era for the Han nation.

So who is behind this crazy idea? The wise man Agudengba said with a smile that it was no wonder Huang Taiji and the Manchu people. The person who created the figurines was actually a Han Chinese. He was Sun Zhixian, a minister of the Ming Dynasty. Sun Zhixian can be said to be the biggest traitor during the Manchu Qing Dynasty.

The wise man Agudumba further explained this:

Chinese people should be quite familiar with the impression of the Manchus. Regardless of the photos, documentaries and costume TV movies of the late Qing Dynasty, we will also see Chinese men under the Qing Empire at that time with a long braid on the back of their heads. This is a big sign. A sign that the Qing Dynasty forced the Han people to surrender. Shaving the front of the head and leaving the back of the head braided is a custom among Manchus in Northeast China. After the Manchus entered the customs and swallowed up the Ming Dynasty, the Qing government ordered the Han people to shave their hair and grow braids. But what is incredible is that the person who petitioned to force the Han people to shave their heads was Sun Zhixian, a Han nationality who surrendered to the Ming Dynasty.

Sun Zhixian was from Shandong and became a Jinshi official during the Tianqi period of the Ming Dynasty. At that time, it was the period of the dictatorship of the eunuch Wei Zhongxian, and party members were all over the court. It was a period of people tending to follow the influence of others, and Sun Zhixian became a member of the "eunuch party". After Chongzhen ascended the throne, Wei Zhongxian and the "eunuch party" were eradicated. Sun Zhixian was demoted to a civilian position, and he also harbored resentment towards the court.

After the Qing army entered the customs, they invaded Shandong all the way. Sun Zhixian, a "commoner" in his hometown at that time, wanted to join the army, so he put on Manchu clothes together with his family and servants. When the incident reached the Qing Palace, Emperor Shunzhi ordered Sun Zhixian to be summoned to Beijing in order to win people's support and was appointed Minister of Rites. A stinking intellectual climbed up to a Jinshi degree and became an official. After being dismissed, he reduced his position to the people. For fame and fortune, he actually became the first traitor in China who took the initiative to wear Manchu clothes with his family and slaves. This is China The most famous dog slave in the history of traitors.

According to the "Unofficial History of the Qing Dynasty", at that time, Emperor Shunzhi allowed the Ming Dynasty ministers to still wear Han clothes to go to court because the world was uncertain, and the Manchu and Han ministers stood on one side. Sun Zhixian, however, "showed his love in a different way". When he went to court, he was dressed in Manchu official attire from head to toe, and he smugly squeezed into the crowd of Manchu ministers. Obviously the most typical face of a traitor.

The Manchu ministers believed that they were superior to Han officials, so they reprimanded Sun Zhixian as "not of my race, so his heart must be different, and he will not accept it." As a result, he was kicked out of the team.

The Han officials covered their faces and snickered. Sun Zhixian wanted to go back to the Han class because of his displeasure. The Han officials "used it as a pretense and would not tolerate it" and refused to let him enter the class.

The results of it? This traitor did not please both sides and wandered between the Manchus and the Han. Therefore, he was extremely embarrassed and angry, and wrote to the Emperor Shunzhi, asking for an edict to order the Han people to shave their heads: "Your Majesty has pacified China, and everything has been reformed, but the system of clothes, hats and hair is only the old one of the Han Dynasty. This is Your Majesty's obedience to China, not China's obedience Your Majesty." The ugliness of traitors is evident.

Shunzhi originally had this intention, and he praised it and said: "I didn't expect any of the ministers to say this." In June of the second year of Shunzhi (AD 1665), haircuts were ordered. Everywhere, barbers were escorted by brave soldiers, carrying burdens and patrolling the towns and villages. On the burdens were hung the words "Leave your head without leaving your hair, leave your hair without leaving your head". They forced Han people to shave their heads and cut off the heads of those who refused to do so and hung them on burdens for public display.

The evil of traitors has brought endless disasters to the Han people.

The wise man Agudumba further elaborated on this:

"Clothing and binding hair" has always been an external symbol of the Han people. Forcing Han people to shave their hair seriously hurt the feelings of the Han people, so there were constant incidents of resistance. The tragedies of the "Ten Days in Yangzhou" and the "Three Massacres in Jiading" were caused by forced hair shaving.

Sun Zhixian became a national sinner. Wang Jiazhen of the Qing Dynasty denounced it in his "Miscellaneous Notes on Yantang's Insights and Hearings": "There was a Shandong Jinshi Sun Zhixian who, as a stratagem, shaved his head to welcome the surrender. He was embarrassed and angry... so he ordered him to shave his hair. But the people of the Central Plains are swarming everywhere, millions of creatures, all over the grass and fields, and they are all excited by a word. It turns out that their heart is only motivated by greed for wealth and honor, and a shameless thought leads to endless disasters."

What will be the fate of Sun Zhixian, the national sinner?

Agudengba said: After the hair-shaving incident, Sun Zhixian volunteered to go to Jiangxi to recruit the soldiers and civilians who surrendered to the Qing court in order to repay the favor of the Manchu master. However, his efforts were in vain. Most of the Han people were still unwilling to become traitors. In the end, Sun Zhixian was dismissed from office and sent to his hometown.

In the autumn of the third year of Shunzhi, a peasant uprising broke out in Shandong. The rebels finally captured the traitor Sun Zhixian alive, tied him up and showed him to the public. He was tortured for several crimes, including begging for favors, shaving his head, and mutilating his compatriots. He was sentenced to death and his body was violently buried in the street. This is the fate of traitors.

In fact, it was the established policy of the Qing Dynasty to force the Han people to shave their heads and change clothes. It was just a matter of time. Sun Zhixian's petition was used by Emperor Shunzhi as an excuse to issue an order to shave their heads. Although Sun Zhixian was killed by the people for being a traitor, the descendants of traitors who flatter and seek favor will never be cut off in China.

The wise man Agudengba sang a Shandong "Ballad of Traitors":

The Qing Dynasty implemented the order of shaving one's hair and changing clothes.

Forcing the Han people to submit to the Manchus and become slaves,

The burly man has long braids on the back of his head.

No man is willing to save his head to survive.

There is nothing wrong with cursing the Qing autocratic dictatorship;

But we cannot forget the pusher Sun Zhixian.

After the Qing army entered the Pass and invaded Shandong,

Sun Zhixian took his family and dog slaves,

Wear Manchu clothes together and become traitors.

When news of this incident reached the Qing Palace, Emperor Shunzhi was surprised.

To win over Han people for political needs,

He was ordered to be summoned to the capital and made an official.

Sun Zhixian wrote to Emperor Shunzhi about a trick.

I asked the emperor to issue an edict to govern the Han Dynasty and cut off my hair first.

In the sixth month of Shunzhi's great joy, he issued an order to shave his hair.

Barbers carrying their burdens patrolled the streets,

If the Han people are forced to grow their heads or hair,

He refused to shave his hair and had his head cut off to show to the public.

In order to repay his Manchu master, he gained favor.

He volunteered to recruit soldiers and civilians to surrender to the Qing Dynasty.

In the end, he was dismissed from office after working to no avail.

The Shandong rebels captured the traitor Sun Zhixian alive.

The biggest traitor in the history of Ming and Qing Dynasties in China,

He was eventually executed and killed on the street.

Taking the legendary wise Agu Demba as the protagonist, I started to create the Chinese-English version of "Snow Land Fable" using the traditional fable creation method that combines poetry and prose. Writing fableskes me feel like a child again. Studying snowy culture is my prescription to prevent Alzheimer’s di masease.
