Bai Haiqing
While Agudengba
was chatting with Adhuo and Chu Sanxing, Dawa and Chu Sanxing's wife came over
to Qima.
Dawa is about 15
years old. Dawa's mother is of mixed Indian and British descent. Dawa's mother
was a prostitute on the Prostitute Island in Bangladesh. She was unable to
accept clients because she had a sexually transmitted disease, so the madam
forced her daughter Dawa to accept clients. Dawa's mother did not want her
daughter to repeat her fate, so she persuaded her daughter to escape from the
prostitute island. With the help of Pema, the woman living with Lavani, Dawa
escaped from the prostitute island and became Lavani's second cohabitant. In
order to worry that the prostitute island's slutty old madam would send someone
to capture Dawa. Dawa's mother Nima agreed with Pema and Lavani: Let Dawa
follow Agudengba to fly far away and follow him to Tibet. She can become
Agudengba's partner. She can not only take care of him, but also hope to live
in Agudengba. With the help of Demba, he learned more knowledge and allowed
Dawa to have a better life. With the help of Lavani and her mother, the young
Dawa girl has now become Agudumba's partner.
Dawa said happily:
Mr. Agudemba, there will be distinguished guests coming to visit you later.
Agudengba is very
curious. I have no friends in Myanmar. Who will come to visit me?
Xiang Qima smiled
and said: Why did you come to Myanmar instead of Tibet after leaving
Bangladesh? Do you remember Yadan girls?
Yadan is a geisha
who is proficient in dancing and music on Prostitute Island. His father is a
famous musician in Myanmar. Yadan was kidnapped by robbers during a music and
dance performance held by his father and sent to Prostitute Island. . Yadan
regarded Dawa as a younger sister. He not only taught her singing and dancing,
but also taught her a lot of knowledge in this area.
Agudemba
remembered what Dawa had said to him: Yadan was kind to me. She became my best
friend after being kidnapped and taken to the island. I hope you can save her.
Due to Dawa's
earnest request, Agudengpa decided to go to Myanmar first, and then transfer to
Tibet from Myanmar. Agudengba wanted to go to Myanmar first to find Yadan's
father. Yadan had lost contact with her father since she was abducted and taken
to the island. Yadan's father is a celebrity in Myanmar. If he knew his daughter's
information, he would definitely save her from the island.
At this time, a
horse team, led by an elephant, was walking towards Agudenba and Dawa.
A young girl
quickly got off the horse and ran towards Dawa. This was her best friend Yadan.
Dawa and Yadan hugged each other tightly.
Yadan introduced
his father to Dawa and Agudemba.
Yadan's father
said to Agudengba: "Dear wise man, thank you for your help, allowing my
daughter Yadan to return to me. My name is Bai Yunfei, this is my Chinese name.
I also have a Mongolian name , called Dorje. Dorje means lightning.”
Agudengba, Adhuo,
and Chu Sanxing were all curious: How come you have two names and a Mongolian
name?
Dorje smiled and
said: I should be a Tibetan. The name Dorje is both Tibetan and Chinese. Tibetans
have a close relationship with Mongolians. Mongolians believe in Tibetan
Buddhism and often come to Tibet to pray and study Buddhism. Since Mongolians
traditionally believe in Tibetan Buddhism, some people also commonly use
Tibetan or Sanskrit names passed down through Tibetan language, such as Darzha,
Dorje, and Dorji. In addition, many people are named after the birth days of
the seven days of the week, and the names of Monday to Sunday in Mongolian are
derived from Tibetan.
Dorje pointed to
Dawa and said: Dawa symbolizes the moon in Tibetan and "Monday" in
Mongolian.
Dorje continued:
The Mongolian
people traditionally do not have strict surnames. Mongolians usually use the
tribal name of the tribe they belong to before their given names. However, the
tribal name is not directly connected with the individual's name as a surname,
so Mongolians usually use it as a surname. Only first name, no last name. Since
the 20th century, many Mongolians have given themselves Han surnames, and
Mongolia has also enacted a "surname law" that stipulates that
Mongolian citizens must choose the names of historical figures or ancestors as
surnames.
Some Mongolians in
China began to mix with Han people after the late Qing Dynasty, and some
Mongolians' names and even their living habits were completely Chineseized. In
Inner Mongolia, some people take a Han surname based on the first or last
syllable of the tribe's name, or other things, and match it with a Mongolian or
Han name.
At this time,
Yadan happily said to Dawa and Agudengba:
Thank you for
saving me and allowing me to return to my father. We now live in Naypyitaw,
which is located in the mountainous area of central Myanmar, 400 kilometers
north of Yangon.
Yadan pointed to
the members of the cavalry team and said happily to Dawa, Xiang Qima,
Agudengba, Azhuo and Chu Sanxing:
This is the
Naypyitaw song and dance troupe founded by my father. It is mainly composed of
Mongolian, Tibetan, Bamar and Shan ethnic groups. The actors who came here
today are mainly Mongolian teammates.
The Mongolians are
a people who are good at singing and dancing, and their singing and dancing are
often connected with fine wine and food. This feature is reflected in the fact
that Mongolians like to use the tableware on the dining table as props for
dances, such as the familiar bowl dance and cup dance. , chopstick dance and so
on. Mongolian dance has a lively rhythm, light steps, and enthusiasm. Typical
movements include shaking shoulders, turning wrists, and spinning. In addition,
Mongolian dance places great emphasis on the changes of arms and hands, as well
as the coordination with shoulders, waist, calves and feet.
While Yadan was
speaking, her father Dorji was already directing the Mongolian tents set up on
the meadow by members of the Naypyidaw Song and Dance Troupe.
After a while, the
team members happily danced the Mongolian dance.
Yadan opened her
voice and sang a grassland song "Bai Hai Qing":
The brave falcon soaring in the sky,
The feathers are like white lines.
The north wind penetrates thousands of clouds
in the sky,
Bai Haiqing looked down at the prairie.
White Eagle opened her bright eyes wide,
The cunning fox will not be spared.
Who wants to get the food of the grassland?
You have to avoid the sharp eagle claws.
The dark sky blows through the rain,
The white eagle flies behind the Pegasus.
The boldness and open-mindedness of the
Mongols,
From ancient times to the present, no one can
deny it.
With the protection of Bai Haiqing’s spirit,
The weak can learn to save themselves,
It is the law of life not to suppress evil.
Justice will eventually return to the people.
Taking the legendary wise Agu Demba as the protagonist, I started to create the Chinese-English version of "Snow Land Fable" using the traditional fable creation method that combines poetry and prose. Writing fableskes me feel like a child again. Studying snowy culture is my prescription to prevent Alzheimer’s di masease.
