A rich cultural atmosphere permeates the entire city: the tower-like neighborhoods, where tombstones inspired Dante's poetry; the tranquil Villa Medici, which frequently hosted Neoplatonist philosophers; and the Pegola Theatre and Boboli Gardens, where operas were first performed.
