由于此时的斗牛“昆仑”的野性始发，所以由三个斗牛士助手负责引逗其全场飞奔，消耗其最初的锐气。几个回合过去，骑马带甲的长矛手出场，他们用长矛头刺扎斗牛“昆仑”的牛背颈部，使其血管刺破，进行放血，这是为主斗牛士开一个下剑的通道。长矛手所骑之马都用护甲裹住，双眼蒙上以防胆怯。
