Wild Boar Deborah
Shan Weng owns a huge animal farm with cows, horses,
pigs, sheep, chickens, ducks and geese. Delin, a breeding boar raised in Shan
Weng's pig shed, was angry with Shan Weng because he refused to mate.
In a fit of anger, the mountain man sold Delin, the
breeding boar, to the slaughterhouse. But unexpectedly, the stud boar Delin
actually jumped off the roof of the large slaughterhouse truck that was
transporting him, and fell to his death.
Dunjiashu, who witnessed this tragic situation, is an animal linguist. He understands the language of pigs. He told the mountain man: "The pig screamed before it died. It will never go to the slaughterhouse and let others kill it. I will die with honor." !”
Shan Weng believes that it is natural for humans to
slaughter domestic animals. People often worship cattle, horses and sheep,
because only gods and ancestors are worthy of respect, and domestic animals are
just livestock. Therefore, he was accustomed to slaughtering animals. The
rebellious and suicidal behavior of the boar Delin failed to inspire compassion
for the mountain man, and he did not show any remorse. It didn't take long for
Shan Weng and his wife Fu Niang to forget about it.
However, Deborah, the brother of the boar Delin, kept
the incident firmly in his mind. Deborah is also a breeding boar.
In order to escape the fate of being slaughtered by
humans one day, Deborah, a boar, made an amazing move. The breeding boar
Deborah encouraged the pig friends who were locked up in the pig shed, broke
down the fence of the pig shed, and fled collectively into the mountains and
forests.
Although domestic pigs and wild boars have obvious
size differences, there is no reproductive isolation between them. If domestic
pigs are released into areas where wild boars live, they will have genetic
exchange with wild boars, and the genes of the two will merge with each other.
, so that it will not take long for the descendants of domestic pigs to
"wild". When domestic pigs return to the wild, only one autumn and
winter later, their appearance and lifestyle will completely change, mutating
into wild boars with long tusks.
After the boar Deborah escaped from the animal farm
and stayed in the wild for a long time, his appearance became wild boar. In the
cold environment, he grew thick bristles and curved tusks. A dense subcutaneous
thickened tissue layer is formed on its shoulders, often called a
"shield" or "shoulder plate."
Generally, male wild boars live alone, while female
wild boars live in groups. The breeding boar Debai lived a leisurely solitary
life in the mountains and forests. He found his own free life. Only by breaking
out of the cage can one gain freedom. When a domestic pig escapes into the
wild, it can mutate into a wild boar with long tusks. Wild boars can enjoy a
free world. What pigs can do, let alone humans? Deborah the boar sang "Ode
to Liberty":
We don't want your feeding,
We will not be deceived by
you,
We have broken out of the
cage,
We no longer surrender to
shame.
Some people call us
rebellious;
Some people say we are too
weak;
We have returned to freedom,
We are no longer at the mercy
of others.
We move forward in an upright
manner,
We unite and strive for
progress,
Our fangs have grown,
We fight against evil.
Ambition surges through
thousands of mountains and rivers,
Don’t be afraid of the thorny
roads and dangerous roads,
We are willing to fight for
freedom,
Our blood is boiling.
Taking the legendary wise Agu Demba as the protagonist, I started to create the Chinese-English version of "Snow Land Fable" using the traditional fable creation method that combines poetry and prose. Writing fables makes me feel like a child again. Studying snowy culture is my prescription to prevent Alzheimer’s disease.
