Injured black-necked crane
Dunjiashu came across a black-necked crane
by the grass beside the Qingshui River in Shuiyunzhuang in the snowy area. The
people in the snowy area here love the black-necked crane very much. They call
the black-necked crane the "magical bird in the snowy area". It is an
auspicious and auspicious symbol. A symbol of happiness and longevity.
Dunjiashu was very excited and sang the popular snowy song "Black-necked
Crane from the North".
But what surprised Dunjiashu was that the
black-necked crane did not dance to the song, but looked very painful.
Dunjiashu walked slowly towards the
black-necked crane, but the black-necked crane did not avoid it. When Dunjiashu
approached the black-necked crane, he discovered that the black-necked crane's
left wing was bleeding, apparently injured.
Dunjiashu asked the black-necked crane in
crane language: "Are you injured? What happened?"
The black-necked crane said: In the spring
on the plateau, despite the cold wind and heavy snow, it still cannot stop us
black-necked cranes from coming. At the end of March, my black-necked crane
husband and I flew all the way across the Himalayas and arrived at Longbao
Beach first, despite the difficulties. Our arrival made Longbao Beach lively after
a winter of silence. On the snow-covered Longbao Beach, our black-necked crane
couple and our crane friends who arrived at the same time raised their heads
and sang loudly from time to time. We were telling the surrounding herders that
we were back. This season, the wetland is quiet. As the weather gets warmer,
the whooper swans that have been inhabited for the whole winter fly away one
after another. The rarely quiet wetland became lively again because
black-necked cranes like us came here. The couple of us are relatively familiar
with the environment here. Soon after arriving at the lakeside, we were busy
going out to find food, replenish energy, and prepare for building a love nest.
Unexpectedly, my wings were broken off by a nasty hunter with a gun. I can't
fly anymore. I persuade my husband to leave here and not to die for me. My
husband disagrees and must stay with me until death. I secretly came here
without telling him.
Dunjiashu lives an ordinary life alone. He
built Shuiyun Village on the banks of the snowy Qingshui River. He liked to
plant flowers, grass and fruit trees, and sometimes went for walks and fishing
by the river. More time is spent studying animal language.
However, when the injured black-necked
crane appeared in front of him, Dunjiashu's life changed greatly.
Dunjiashu observed the female black-necked
crane carefully. The black-necked crane's wings were seriously injured and she
was bleeding profusely. It turned out that the black-necked crane was hit by a
bow and arrow, its wings had been broken, and she could no longer fly in the
sky.
Dunjiashu quickly picked up the
black-necked crane. After returning home, he used local Tibetan medicine to
treat the black-necked crane and decided to keep the black-necked crane and
take care of it for a long time.
Dunjiashu adopted the black-necked crane.
Feeding her carefully every day and feeding her fish from the Qingshui River,
the black-necked crane's wounds slowly healed, and the relationship between the
black-necked crane and the Dunjia tree became increasingly close.
Dunjiashu liked writing and painting very
much, so he named the black-necked crane "Zongzong" according to the
Tibetan transliteration.
Soon, word spread about Dunjiashu adopting
the injured black-necked crane Zongzong.
Nearby residents often come to Shuiyun
Village to visit the black-necked crane Zongzong, and also bring some small
fish, shrimp and other food. Dun Jiashu's kindness moved the residents, and the
local children called him "Grandpa Crane".
The story of Dunjiashu continues and is
also spread among the animal world. Because Dunjiashu loves animals and is
proficient in various animal languages, animals often gather at Shuiyun
Village.
Many animals are hunted by humans, or their
habitats are occupied by humans, so animals have developed an aversion to
humans. Animals often ask Dunjiashu: Is there any difference between human
nature and animal nature?
What is human nature and what is animal
nature? This is an eternal topic in survival research. Dun Jiashu sang the
ballad "Dan Hui":
Compassion
is the door and kindness is the foundation.
Blessings
come to the soul, misfortune brings darkness to the heart.
A
loving heart is called kindness,
An
act of helping those in need is called kindness.
The
cuckoo loves the dawn,
The
owl looks forward to dusk.
Kindhearted
people are like milk,
Those
who give kindness do not expect repayment.
A
kind natured person does not get involved in disputes.
The
sacred tree leaves no knots.
The
value of a horse is not in its saddle and saddle;
What
makes a person valuable is not wealth.
Charity
is not simply giving;
But
to gain inner fulfillment.
The
eagle and wolf are dressed as beasts in cassocks;
A
wicked person who does not recognize his relatives is worse than a beast.
Humans
and animals all have something in common;
Love
what they love, hate what they hate.
Taking the legendary wise Agu Demba as the protagonist, I started to create the Chinese-English version of "Snow Land Fable" using the traditional fable creation method that combines poetry and prose. Writing fables makes me feel like a child again. Studying snowy culture is my prescription to prevent Alzheimer’s disease.
