Wake up(106)

106

On this evening, the two old men, Chai Jianhua and He Jiafu, talked about the closure of Wuhan and the spread of the epidemic with a sad heart. At this time, He Jiafu's little grandson, Nan Shanyun, and his friends of the same age gathered together again.

Nan Shanyun once accompanied his grandfather He Jiafu to the market to set up a stall to sell Chinese herbal medicines. As a result, his grandfather was humiliated by the city management. Nan Shanyun couldn't bear it, so he decided to challenge those evil city management. He gathered a group of friends , there are alumni Zhang San of the same age, childhood friend Li Si, Wang Wu and his girlfriend Hua Runmei. Gather in the Qunying Hall of Jiangshan Restaurant. Their goal is to start with the city management devils who are violently enforcing the law, punish one and train all.

Zhang San was the host, and Xiao Kongming and Li Si presided over the party. Li Si said: "Brother Nan Shanyun invited Xu Wei, and I have something to tell you. We are all 18 years old. We are in the prime of our youth, but the world is chaotic and the world is unfair. We don't seem to see it. Bright tomorrow. We have been educated in Marxism since we were young, so we can use the old horse’s teachings to guide our actions.” At this time, Zhang Sansan, an alumnus of Nanshan Yun’s age, laughed: “Freedom, justice, truth, Well said, the first letter of the Chinese pinyin of these three words starts with Z, come on, let’s toast to the three Zs!"

Nan Shanyun, Li Si, Zhang San, and Wang Wu, four young people of the same age, raised their wine glasses and drank them all in one gulp.

There was no charter, no oath, and no special ceremony. The Three Zs Association, unanimously recognized by four young people, was formally established in the Qunying Hall of Jiangshan Restaurant. Nanshan Yun is the boss, Xiao Kongming and Li Si are the military advisers, Zhang San is in charge of collecting information, and Wang Wu is in charge of eliminating demons.

Zhang San, who is responsible for collecting information, has received Western civilization education since he was a child, and believes that the Western world is a democratic and free society. Because his grandparents were impacted in previous political campaigns, they often told Zhang San about those inhuman experiences of persecution, which also gave Zhang San the idea of resisting society and rebellion since he was a child. Zhang San's mother, Fu Zhuyun, was sent to a "May 7th Cadre School" in Anhui for segregated inspection during the Cultural Revolution. Zhang San's grandfather was labeled a counter-revolutionary during the Cultural Revolution, and was persecuted to death during the investigation of the May 1st Movement. After the Cultural Revolution ended, Zhang San's father Zhang Zhenhua and mother Fu Zhuyun finally turned over and had three children. The eldest is a son who has immigrated to Portland, USA, and the second is a daughter who immigrated to Canada. The youngest son, Zhang San, was born in 1996. Because his grandparents disagreed with his daughter sending the children abroad, Zhang San stayed in China and was raised by his grandparents. To keep in touch with his parents and older siblings, Zhang San downloaded circumvention software so he could always get overseas information.

Zhang San reported some information he had collected about urban management: The prelude to the "violent law enforcement" of the Three Zs against urban management villains was thus kicked off. But when Nan Shanyun, Zhang San, Li Si, and Wang Wu, four young people of the same age, were discussing how to punish the thugs in urban management, the sudden outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic in mainland China disrupted their original plan. After discussing with Nan Shanyun and others, they decided to suspend the action of rectifying urban management thugs. The first priority is to ensure the health and safety of your family and yourself. Faced with the sudden outbreak of coronavirus, Nan Shanyun was at a loss. He couldn't understand how the epidemic was caused? The only thing he can do now is to take care of his elderly grandfather He Jiafu together with his mother.

This time, Nan Shanyun, Li Si, Zhang San, and Wang Wu, four young people of the same age gathered together again.

Zhang San said: "We used to hate urban management very much, but now that the Wuhan coronavirus epidemic is raging, the Wuhan New Coronary Pneumonia Epidemic Prevention and Control Headquarters announced the adoption of blockade and isolation measures in the epidemic area, urban management has become clear, neighborhood committees, property management, and some Volunteers have also become big whites, and even the police have put on white coats of epidemic prevention. If the urban management is punished now, it will obviously be difficult."

Everyone basically agrees with Zhang San's point of view, let's put aside the fight against urban management villains first.

The topic of chat among four young people of the same age turned to the coronavirus epidemic.

Zhang San told the story of Ms. Tao Qing: "I saw a message from an overseas website that Ms. Tao Qing, one of the whistleblowers who was reprimanded by the Wuhan police on the same day as Li Wenliang, had moved to Los Angeles, USA. She recalled three years That night at the police station, she still has lingering fears. Until now, she still remembers the feeling of fear and helplessness when the big storm started."

What happened to Ms. TAO QING's dictation to the reporter was shocking and outrageous.

It was the evening of January 3, 2020. Qing Tao was at home alone, her parents were exercising outside, and her husband was playing outside with the children. Suddenly, two policemen knocked on the door and summoned her to the police station. She was a little confused: What's going on? I didn't do anything wrong? But I can't leave. The police took her away with a summons. She didn't expect that this visit would cast a psychological shadow that she would never forget.

Qing Tao was born and raised in Wuhan, and her family conditions are very good. She is also motivated in her studies. After graduating from a law major, she went to the UK to study for a master's degree. After returning to China, she joined a Sino-foreign joint venture, and her husband also had a lucrative job, supplying various supplies to local hospitals. The late doctor Li Wenliang of Wuhan Central Hospital and his colleague "black-faced doctor" Hu Weifeng were friends of the couple. In central China, their family is enviable: young, highly educated, and high income. For their daughter's future, they went to a good school district and bought a high-rise apartment with a price of several million, planning to live a peaceful life, but that summons changed her life.

When Qing Tao returned to her residence that night, she was immediately body-searched by the police. Then, with a "click", one of her hands was handcuffed to a chair, and she was made to face a table, with the scorching bright lights directed at her. The face made her unable to open her eyes. As a "good girl" at home and outside, she has never been treated so roughly, she is very nervous and fearful, feeling that she has suddenly become a felon, and she does not understand why the police treat her like an enemy. Looking back now, she realized that she was at the intersection of great changes in the world at that time, the eye of a storm that was about to sweep the world.

In the next 24 hours, Qing Tao, who was handcuffed to a chair, almost collapsed emotionally. The interrogating policeman switched rounds and rounds without giving her a minute to rest. Because of being too nervous, she even forgot to be thirsty, hungry, and to go to the toilet.

If she was only handcuffed, she could survive a little physical pain, but the most painful thing for her was the psychological pressure. Rounds of accusations filled her ears: "You are spreading rumors!" "You are destroying social stability!"

She tried to explain: "I didn't hide anything... I didn't do anything else... I told you all I knew." But no one listened to her.

She finally understood that this horrible experience was due to a message she sent to relatives and friends on WeChat the day before yesterday. Her elderly father was suffering from prostatitis and was very uncomfortable, so she wanted to see a doctor. Her husband remembered that not long ago, a doctor friend told him: "Don't go to the hospital if there is no serious illness, there is an infectious disease." Her father didn't understand: "How can you not go to the hospital if you are sick? Why can't you go to the hospital? If there is an infectious disease, the government Why don't you say it?"

As a child, you can't disobey your father, and your father really needs to see a doctor. Even Qing Tao doesn't take her husband's words seriously. As soon as she arrived at Wuhan Central Hospital, the doctor gave each of them a pair of N95 masks. The doctor looked worried, and said to them: "Didn't you tell me? Don't come here if you are not seriously ill." Seeing the doctor say this, they believed that something had happened. After a B-ultrasound examination and a pair of medicines, the family left the hospital in a hurry.

In order to keep people around him from danger, Qing Tao left a few words on WeChat Moments, to the effect that "there is a serious infectious disease now, everyone take care, wear a mask when going out, and don't go to crowded places".

These few messages got her into huge trouble. Facing repeated threats from the police, she defended, saying, "The doctor told me that."

The police asked back: "Are you a professional? Do you have evidence to prove that you have an infectious disease?"

"Is it an infectious disease? You should prove it? How can I prove it?" Qing Tao is still full of grievances when recalling the situation a few years ago. At that time, she was very tired physically and mentally. She did not rest all day and night, did not eat or drink, and could not take a nap. Under the scorching of the strong light and the continuous rough reprimand, she shed tears many times. It wasn't until the next afternoon that the police saw that they couldn't ask any more questions, so the police station gave her a letter of reprimand for her to sign, and the signing date was January 4.

On the same day she was summoned, Dr. Li Wenliang was also admonished at the police station. What did Li Wenliang go through? Qing Tao estimated that it should be similar to her. At the same time, Dr. Ai Fen, director of the emergency department of the same hospital, Xie Linka, attending physician of the Tumor Center of Union Hospital Affiliated to Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and Liu Wen, neurologist of Wuhan Red Cross Hospital, were admonished. They are known as the "whistleblowers" of the CCP virus epidemic. Some people classify them as the "Eight Gentlemen of Wuhan", but people can't imagine that among the earliest whistleblowers, there may be Qing Tao who is not a doctor.

Just a few days after Qing Tao was admonished, that is, the first week of January, Wuhan Fifth People's Hospital was crowded with fever patients, and many patients came one by one. This shows that the virus has been transmitted from person to person. However, during the two sessions of the Communist Party of China in Wuhan in mid-January, the Wuhan Municipal Health and Health Commission declared in a briefing: There is no human-to-human transmission, no new cases, and no infection among medical staff. Doctors who broke the news continued to receive threats and warnings.

Zhong Nanshan visited Wuhan half a month later. On January 20, he admitted on TV: the virus is transmitted from person to person!

Three days later, Wuhan was locked down. Should the person who has been wronged be admitted? The apology not given to Dr. Li Wenliang is just an act to silence the public. QingTao has not received any official apology so far.

"Your children are not allowed to go to school here," the police told Qing Tao's family.

After Qing Tao was released home, she didn't say anything to her family. But then, the horrific experience of that day and night flashed like a nightmare: more stress and blows are yet to come.

As soon as she went to work the next day, she was called by the company leader for questioning. The leader refused to listen to her explanation, and she was subsequently canceled the year-end bonus and promotion opportunities that year. She didn't dare to go to the police station to ask for an explanation. As a student of law, she has already experienced the laws that govern China: those in power don't speak the law at all.

When it was time for her child to enroll in autumn, Qing Tao was told by the school that her child was not eligible to enroll. Since they don't go to public schools, go to private schools at a high price. The child entered school, but her heart ached. She understands that she has been classified as a different kind: a few kind reminders on WeChat will make her and her family suffer from the iron fist of the CCP for the rest of her life.

When the epidemic hit, Li Wenliang and Hu Weifeng, Qing Tao's best friend doctors, passed away within half a year, leaving behind two young children. Altogether, the plague has caused her to lose six relatives and friends.

Nan Shanyun, Li Si, and Wang Wu fell silent after hearing Zhang San's story.

The few young people who had gathered at the party now all bowed their heads, lowered their eyes, walked with sighs, and went home dejectedly. Their joy just now seemed like a deflated balloon.

Nan Shanyun said to Li Si: "My heart is empty. I feel as if the whole world has abandoned us. Loneliness, loneliness, loss, and helplessness overwhelm us. I really want to escape, to another place. The world goes..."

Li Si said to Nanshan Yun: "I heard that your brother Nanyangsheng is back. He is a doctoral student in psychology at the Central Plains College of Humanities. He should have a wide range of knowledge. You can ask him more about how the epidemic situation in China is coming back." thing."

Nan Shanyun said: "You are right. After he graduated, he returned to his hometown mainly to visit his grandfather. He often went to help my sister Nan Liwa. My sister worked in a pharmacy. She once temporarily boarded at the home of Chai Jianhua, a good friend of my grandfather's lifetime. .Now she rents another place, and my grandfather and I live together."

Li Si asked Nanshan Yun, "You have very little contact with your brother?"

Nan Shanyun said: "We had a lot of contacts, because he was looking for a job, so I told him that I would take care of my grandfather. My grandfather also advised my brother to find a job as soon as possible. It's strange to say that my brother has a Ph.D. , couldn’t find a job.”

TAO QING

Qing Tao

Qing Tao

Qing Tao

Wake up(105)

105

After receiving a few patients in his clinic, old Chinese doctor Chai Jianhua finally had a short break. He sat at the table with He Jiafu and chatted about the history of the coexistence of plague and human beings while drinking tea.

Chai Jianhua said to He Jiafu: "'Xinmin Weekly' published an article by the writer Bi Huicheng, which described in detail the history of the coexistence of the plague and humans. The author believes that the plague is the opponent and wrestler of mankind, but not Enemy. The blows of war are often accompanied by the ravages of plague."

In the spring of 2020, too many Chinese people are talking about the history of 17 years ago, using the SARS epidemic to reflect on today’s new crown pneumonia epidemic. Facing the unpredictable future, we are like beginners of a foreign language and have to translate it into our mother tongue; the history that has not been far away suddenly becomes our mother tongue. Of course, we can go further in the perspective of history.

Chai Jianhua said: When I first saw McNeil's article "Plague and Man", my consciousness at that time was completely captured by McNeill. In 1520, the Spaniard Cortes conquered the millions of Aztec Empire with a force of 600; soon, Pizarro conquered another Indian power center, the Inca empire. Even more incredible is that they also succeeded in imposing the language and culture of the colonists on the entire Indian society. Such a result cannot be explained by the technical gap between hot weapons and cold weapons. In 1841, more than three hundred years later, the people of Sanyuanli, Guangzhou could still beat British soldiers with muskets with the help of crude hoes and other production tools. In McNeill's view, this historical case demonstrates, with laboratory-like purity, the mechanism of civilization expansion that has been going on for thousands of years on the Old World, and the core of this mechanism is civilization disease. The main thing that conquered the Indians was not the gunpowder spears, but the smallpox that the Spaniards carried with them. Antibodies to smallpox have been produced in the Old World, and to borrow McNeil's term, it has stabilized as a "disease of civilization", but it is the first contact with the New World. It was this fact that sealed the fate of the New World. Just when the Aztecs won their first battle, the raging smallpox in their capital, Mexico City, created a "sad night" with ten rooms and nine empty rooms, which basically broke the Aztecs' will to resist and made Coste Invaded Mexico City without bloodshed. Around 1525, the smallpox epidemic further spread to the Inca Empire, and the infected and dead were Saigu Yingye. Pizarro, who broke in at this time, never encountered real resistance at all. Obviously, compared with the invasion of soldiers, the invasion of pathogens is decisive, and the second kind of invasion can only be interpreted from a supernatural perspective in the cognitive world of Indians: this is a war between gods, and the opponent's The gods have unquestionably triumphed over their own gods. In this way, in the face of the divinely aided march of the Spanish, what fell was not only the sick body, but also the religion, ritual and specific moral way of life surrounding the ancient Indian gods. In this sense, the nepotism between war and plague is not just rhetorical, that is, war is compared to plague, but the blows of war often go hand in hand with the ravages of plague and cover up the consequences of plague.

He Jiafu didn't interrupt, but listened to Chai Jianhua's narration carefully and curiously.

Chai Jianhua said: Before McNeil wrote Plague and Man in 1976, natural forces or the natural world were usually understood as the environment of human society, in which human beings interpreted their own history. variable; or it is metaphorized as the stage of human history, on which various people shuttle and perform, you will sing and I will appear on the stage, but the stage itself does not intervene in the plot.

Chai Jianhua took a sip of tea and said: By introducing the perspective of plague, McNeil showed that once natural forces intervene in history as a variable, its impact on human history will make the most important war that occurred within human Neither historical nor political history appears to matter. For example, historians are often confused about how ancient India was able to avoid foreign invasion for a long time in an extremely fragmented cultural-political structural relationship. McNeil points out that when the ingenious Alexander attempted to break through the Northwest Pass—India’s only external overland route—in 326 B.C., his army mutinied, and Tropical Disease was better at defending this pass than any military installation. efficient. The history of international relations in the subcontinent is fundamentally determined by the contrast between the offensive power of invaders and the resistive power of tropical diseases, which represented a The role of natural forces in shaping historical relationships is difficult to be offset by man-made forces. In fact, it was only around 1900, relying on the achievements of modern medicine, that for the first time the urban population could sustain itself without relying on rural immigrants. Prior to this, cities, as the source of civilizational diseases, not only required the countryside to produce surplus food for them, but also required the production of surplus population.

Chai Jianhua said: In terms of public health, the battlefield is more dangerous than the city. The battlefield not only gathers a city-scale population, but also forms the frontier of infectious diseases. Therefore, in wars before the 20th century, the attack of viruses is usually more lethal than the attack of the enemy. In the Crimean War from 1854 to 1856, the number of British soldiers who died from dysentery was 10 times that of Russian artillery; in the Boer War from 1899 to 1902, the number of British soldiers who died of disease was 5 times that of those who died in battle. However, only 2 years later, the Japanese showed the world how successful mandatory vaccinations could be: less than a quarter of their casualties in the Russo-Japanese War (1904-1906) died from disease. The establishment of the public health system in the army made the unprecedented feat of millions of soldiers marching in the trenches of northern France during World War I medically possible.

He Jiafu still did not interrupt.

Why did Chai Jianhua suddenly talk about these histories? He said to He Jiafu: "Why did I re-read "Plague and Man", because combined with today's epidemic situation in Wuhan, human beings should devote more energy to dealing with real diseases. From "Plague and Man", we can get some enlightenment .”

Chai Jianhua said to He Jiafu: "The article published by "Xinmin Weekly" described the history of the coexistence of the plague and humans in more detail. Right now, those authoritative medical experts believe that the new crown virus must be completely eradicated, and some experts believe that human beings are no match for the plague. , wrestlers, the plague is not the enemy of mankind. Human beings can only coexist with the plague."

An article published by "Xinmin Weekly" made a five-point interpretation of this:

1. The plague is the opponent and wrestler of human beings, but not the enemy. The damage to the human host produced by the virus when it demonstrates its own existence is essentially accidental injury, because the human host is completely eliminated, and the infectious disease disappears. Therefore, even out of self-preservation, the virus will gradually adjust to establish a symbiotic relationship with the human host through a process of trial and error, that is, it will eventually stabilize into a "disease of civilization" such as an endemic disease or a childhood disease. This means that even without effective human intervention and protection, the destructiveness of the plague is limited within a boundary and will not expand indefinitely. This conclusion can be the bottom line of comfort that "Plague and Man" gives us. Although it is the bottom line, it is also a kind of comfort.

Second, human beings cannot pursue the impossible goal of completely eliminating infectious diseases from human history. First of all, human beings are an omnipresent plague to the natural world itself. He slaughters creatures, destroys ecology, and expands his food range insatiably. Second, we can kill the virus in a particular patient, but not the virus itself. All the viruses that appeared in history were not killed by humans, but stabilized after antibodies were stimulated in the human body, until it crossed the original geographical border and wreaked havoc on a new site; or until it mutated A new form emerged, and the previous process from disease onset to antibody production was repeated in the old territory. Finally, in a metaphysical sense, a world without plague is as unserious as a world without war. The plague, like war, forces people to collectively experience the existence at the boundary of life within a certain period of time, touch or question the meaning of life, so that life becomes real. The plague eliminates particularity, no one is special in the face of the plague, and the plague creates the abstraction of people with its abstraction.

3. The plague created an extraordinary political moment in history, forcing European cities that were fatally ravaged by the Black Death after 1346 to use administrative capacity in the face of crisis as a means to achieve institutional innovation under extraordinary politics. The result not only created European cities The Golden Age of China (1350-1550), and indirectly promoted the replication of urban governance systems on a regional scale, that is, the formation of modern nation-states. Almost all modern Western countries have a prototype of a city that fights the plague in their self-imaginings. Today's Wuhan also has to temporarily become a utopia, and has to accept a complete plan for comprehensively arranging citizens' lives, while organizing social order and people's order. What this political construction means for the current urban "community construction" may require continuous observation in the post-plague era. After the SARS in 2003, people gradually discovered that many of the grassroots governance problems and institutional shortcomings caused by economic transformation, housing system reform, and urbanization had been solved or made up for in the "anti-Africa" campaign. .

4. The powerlessness shown by medicine in this Wuhan epidemic may indicate that the game relationship between science and disease has developed to another inflection point, that is, while science treats diseases, it also participates in the virus. The process of mutation eventually helped to mutate a new type of virus that is difficult to treat, turning the war between science and viruses into a fight between science's own left and right hands: How strong is science's ability to treat diseases, the virus that is created by science is How difficult it is to treat. This concern was raised by McNeil at the end of the article when he looked forward to the future of the history of epidemics. It is based on a larger paradox between science and human beings, that is, science has reduced the number of people who died from the plague, but it has increased the lethality of artillery fire. Modern science destroys life far more than it saves life, and this alone is enough to make us alert to the worship of science.

5. The plague is born with the birthmark of conspiracy theories. It appears, but people don't see it; or people only see its consequences, but not itself. For ordinary people, the occurrence of the plague is unexplainable, and the result of unexplainable and forced explanation is usually conspiracy theory. Conspiracies, like the plague, are on the back of things and cannot be falsified by facts-those facts that seem to be contrary to the conspiracy can be easily explained as the conspirators' actions to cover themselves. Therefore, every plague process in history is accompanied by the screening and trial of conspirators: witches, Jews, poisoners. Due to the unfalsifiable nature of conspiracy theories, dispelling rumors is ineffective against them. So instead of wrestling in vain with someone's inner demons, focus more on dealing with real-life illnesses.

Chai Jianhua said to He Jiafu: "This article published by "Xinmin Weekly" is worth reading. You can read it if you have time. Unfortunately, at the moment when the epidemic is rampant, almost no one pays attention to the significance of this article. Science worship Of course, the problem is not with science itself, but with treating science as an idol. Science worship does not recognize the boundaries of science, and believes that science should be developed without limit under any circumstances. Therefore, if it has the technology of human cloning, It should be realized without hesitation, completely disregarding the social and ethical consequences brought about by it.” Chai Jianhua specifically explained to He Jiafu: “The article points out that humans have been able to use cloning technology to clone viruses. In layman’s terms, viruses may also be Artificial."

Chai Jianhua sighed: "The relationship between science and virus mutation is obviously formed under such circumstances. At a time when we need to rely more on scientific medicine and its institutional implementation to get out of the predicament, it seems so inappropriate to question the worship of science. But I must say, McNeill's concerns are chilling to read now."

We were exiled to our own homes during the plague, and only then did we feel that we could truly settle ourselves down, not the space enclosed by the four walls we painstakingly created. The plague at this time has become a dash, connecting us while separating us.

At this time, every Wuhan person is a Chinese. Isolation does not throw them back to themselves. Instead, they accommodate the existence of the entire nation in their own infinite subjectivity, and experience the destiny of the entire nation as their own. .

At this time, the Chinese are all from Wuhan. So many medical workers and soldiers from other places choose to come to Wuhan, and they understand what this choice means.

For the life that used to be step-by-step, the sudden plague seems to be a mistake. People need to wait until the mistake is corrected before continuing their original life. However, it is impossible for us who have experienced the baptism of the plague to return to our original life, because we are no longer the original us.

Chai Jianhua's narration made He Jiafu understand many things that were unknown beforehand. But he could only smile silently and say to Chai Jianhua: "I don't know what to think in my heart anymore. I don't want to watch or listen. I just feel that living in this society is meaningless. We are in the social group It’s just an individual standing alone. Sick and dead, no one really pays attention to us. We are people who have the plot to leave the social stage, and everything is left as the final solution. In fact, life and death have already been separated I understand that I am ready to leave at any time, accept to leave, do not face it, and do not want to let enslavement and deception consume our hearts again."

Night began to fall. There was crying outside the window.

Chai Jianhua and He Jiafu walked out of the courtyard and saw a hearse slowly approaching on the dirt road. Around the hearse are hung black and yellow banners decorated with big white flowers, solemn and solemn.

The two old men felt sad, their eyes followed the hearse. As if someone was directing silently, the old people, young people, and children on the side of the road all stood up straight and watched the hearse slowly go away.

Chai Jianhua was busy receiving patients in his clinic. He said to He Jiafu who came to visit: I have a newspaper here. This is a report recently written by a reporter from Xinhua News Agency. A full record of the epidemic”, reports said that this is the most serious global public health emergency since the end of World War II. You might as well take a look, after I receive the patients, we will talk about the epidemic and prevention and control together.

He Jiafu then read the newspaper while sipping tea.

According to Xinhua News Agency: At 10 o'clock on January 23, 2020, the entrance of the station was completely sealed by the stainless steel guardrail, and the entrance passages of the three major stations in Wuhan, Hankou and Wuchang were officially closed. More than 5 million people left Wuhan before then, but 9 million people remained here. The invisible and intangible new coronavirus makes many people feel fear. More than 60,000 local medical personnel took the lead in building the "White Great Wall". Seeking medical treatment, asking for medicine, stocking up on daily necessities... This Spring Festival, Wuhan people will never forget it. Fever clinics in various hospitals are crowded with patients, and pictures and videos of doctors eating biscuits and instant noodles for New Year's Eve dinner are flooding the screen.

At a critical moment, General Secretary Xi Jinping issued a general mobilization that "the epidemic is an order, and prevention and control is a responsibility"!

On January 25, the first day of the first lunar month, the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee held a meeting to re-study, re-deploy, and re-mobilize the epidemic prevention and control work. The weight of a city is related to the overall situation. The best doctors, the most advanced equipment, and the most urgently needed resources in the country are mobilized in order to maximize the detection rate and cure rate, and minimize the infection rate and mortality rate. These five "most" have been running through China's fight against the new crown pneumonia epidemic.

On New Year's Eve, when thousands of families were reunited, planes came "retrograde"—destination: Wuhan Tianhe Airport! The fight against the epidemic in Wuhan became the largest disaster relief operation in the country after the Wenchuan earthquake in 2008. Beginning in February, the backbone teams of critical care medicine departments of general hospitals from more than ten provinces, led by the deans or secretaries, took over the new wards and brought life-saving equipment such as ventilators, monitors, and ECMOs. In this life-saving rescue in Hubei, 42,600 medical personnel and more than 900 public health personnel were sent to the main battlefield, among which more than 4,000 medical personnel were sent by the army. 19 provinces have supported 16 prefectures and cities in Hubei Province except Wuhan in the form of counterpart support.

In order to implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's request of "collecting all receivables without delay", the Central Steering Group works with Hubei Province, especially Wuhan City, to "count the number of beds with fingers." Under the guidance of the Central Steering Group, Wuhan City deployed community-diagnosed patients, suspected patients, close contacts of confirmed patients, and general fever patients for classified and centralized management of "four categories of personnel" in accordance with the principles of "receivable, treatment, and inspection" In accordance with the requirements of "exhaustive inspection and isolation", we will continue to carry out three tough battles: dragging the net to check, centralized treatment, and clearing the bottom. While reforming, they were admitted for treatment. The general wards of several general hospitals in Wuhan have been partitioned and sealed, and transformed into designated hospitals, where confirmed patients are treated intensively.

Almost simultaneously with the "closure of the city", the "Beijing Xiaotangshan" model reproduced Wuhan. The model of military-civilian cooperation focuses on the treatment of patients. The two infectious disease hospitals, Huoshenshan and Leishenshan, will be completed in more than ten days, providing about 2,500 beds. 40,000 builders fought day and night, and thousands of excavators and bulldozers "stopped without stopping", and the huge roar resounded through the sky.

But this battle against the new crown virus is far from over, and the situation is stalemate——

A total of 5,142 cases were diagnosed in Wuhan on February 2, 6,384 cases were diagnosed on February 3, 8,351 cases were diagnosed on February 4, and 18,454 cases were diagnosed on February 10...the curve of case growth is almost a vertical line. From the closure of the passage from Han to Hubei to mid-February, two key measures have always effectively controlled the overall situation: one is to mobilize the national critically ill forces to bring their own rescue equipment, and the "organization system" rushes to take over the Wuhan ward; the other is to adopt centralized The "four concentrations" principle of patients, experts, resources, and treatment concentrates superior forces on the main battlefield.

With the gradual deepening of the understanding of the new coronavirus, people found that the proportion of mild patients among the infected is about 80%. The large number of mild patients is the "faucet" of the spread of the epidemic and the source of the severe "barrier lake"! In just over a day, at 10:00 p.m. on February 5, the Jianghan shelter hospital located in the Wuhan International Convention and Exhibition Center was the first to open. More than 1,500 beds were opened to patients sent from various communities at one time. Both are also fast enabled. As of February 28, a total of 12,000 patients had been admitted to 16 shelter hospitals, and 1 out of every 4 patients in Wuhan was treated in the shelter hospitals. Through two rounds of dragnet-type investigations of 4.21 million households in the city, a total of 9,037 confirmed and suspected patients, as well as a large number of close contacts, were identified in Wuhan, achieving "all receivables and all treatments that should be treated". 36 disease control and epidemic prevention teams rushed to help Hubei, mobilized 3 mobile P3 laboratories across the country, solved the "bottleneck" link affecting investigation and admission, and continued to improve nucleic acid testing capabilities. So far, Wuhan has formed a treatment system of "graded and classified admissions, smooth transfer of severe and severe cases": that is, hotels are used as centralized isolation points to isolate close contacts; square cabin hospitals receive confirmed mild cases and suspected patients; Huoshenshan, Leishenshan and Tongji Hospital More than 9,000 critically ill beds have been opened in large general hospitals such as China.

On March 10, General Secretary Xi Jinping specially went to Wuhan, Hubei to inspect the epidemic prevention and control work, emphasizing that epidemic prevention and control should continue to be the top priority and the most important task at present, and that he would not be paralyzed, not tired of fighting, not let go, and never relax and grasp the real situation We will carry out all kinds of prevention and control work meticulously, and resolutely win the defense battles of Hubei and Wuhan.

April 4th is the Qingming Festival of the Gengzi Year. The national flag is lowered, and the mountains and rivers are mourning together. At 10 a.m., the air defense siren sounded, cars, trains, and ships honked their horns, and the whole country observed a three-minute silence. China, in the name of the country, deeply mourns the martyrs who died of the new crown pneumonia epidemic and compatriots who died.

On April 8, Wuhan was "unblocked".

On April 24, all severe and critically ill patients in Hubei were cleared.

On April 26, all patients with new coronary pneumonia in Wuhan were cleared!

The party media shouted: life is above everything else—in 76 days, the heroic people of Wuhan wrote a arduous historical scene; in more than 1,800 hours, the brave Chinese people created an amazing feat that will never be forgotten in the history of human civilization.

However, the potential threat of the new crown pneumonia epidemic still exists, and the situation of epidemic prevention and control facing the whole country is still not optimistic.

On June 11, a cluster of epidemics occurred in Xinfadi, Beijing, and Beijing immediately entered a wartime state, starting a "battle to the backwater" that can only be won but not lost. From 00:00 on July 20, the public health emergency response level in Beijing was adjusted from level two to level three. The media cheered again: a battle against the "epidemic" that lasted nearly 40 days has achieved initial results.

In fact, at the same time, the situation of domestic epidemic prevention and control is still severe and complicated. Both Xinjiang and Dalian had outbreaks unexpectedly.

At this time, the epidemic has spread to more than 210 countries and regions, affecting more than 7 billion people and taking the lives of more than 800,000 people. Tens of thousands of people are infected by the virus every day, and thousands of people lose their precious lives every day.

Xinhua reported:

Always put people's life safety and health first - under the strong leadership of the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core, China has adopted unprecedented scientific and precise prevention and control strategies and measures with resolute courage and determination. With great efforts, it took more than a month to initially curb the spread of the epidemic. It took about two months to control the daily new cases in the local area within single digits. The decisive result of the defense war, the prevention and control of the epidemic has achieved major strategic results, and the coordinated promotion of epidemic prevention and control and economic and social development has achieved positive results. The Chinese people have survived!

He Jiafu put down the newspaper in his hand, he seemed not interested in the Xinhua News Agency's report. His eyes stopped on Chai Jianhua, who was still treating patients.
